GENERAL NOTES
1. TRAFFIC SIGNAL INTERCONNECT SHALL CONFORM TO THESE PLANS, THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 86 AND STANDARD
PLANS (DATED JULY 2006), AND THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS.
2. ALL REQUIRED CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF FONTANA ENGINEERING DIVISION PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF
WORK.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ALL DAMAGED LANDSCAPING AND IRRIGATION TO SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER.
4. SEE SPECIAL PROVISION FOR SPECIFICATIONS ON FIBER OPTIC CABLE, CCN, AND DATA/VIDEO TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENT.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THE ENGINEER FOR EXACT- EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS PRIOR TO FINAL PLACEMENT. LOCATIONS OF
CONDUIT, P48, PULL BOX, OR SPLICE PULL BOX SHOWN ON PLANS ARE SCHEMATIC IN NATURE.
6. EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES SHOWN ARE TAKEN FROM RECORD INFORMATION TO ASSIST THE CONTRACTOR. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY
LOCATION (BOTH VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL) OF ALL EXISTING UNDERGROUND LINES (SHOWN OR NOT) AND NOTIFY RESIDENT ENGINEER OF ANY
DISCREPANCIES OR CONFLICTS PRIOR TO DOING INSTALLATION WORK.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY PATCH CORDS WITH APPLICABLE CONNECTORS (ST. PC, PC) AT BOTH ENDS.
8. ALL PCC SIDEWALK DAMAGED BY THE CONTRACTORS OPERATIONS SHALL BE SAWCUT, REMOVED, AND REPLACED TO EXISTING EXPANSION/SCRIBE
JOINTS.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ELECTRICAL SERVICE LOCATIONS AND PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY ACCESSORIES FOR INSTALLING BACKBONE
FIBER AND COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT.
10. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL BE IN PLACE BEFORE WORK IS STARTED. TRAFFIC CONTROL, WORK .ZONES, AND LANE CLOSURES SHALL BE
COMPLETELY DELINEATED BY CHANNELIZATION DEVICES AND SHIELDED BY BARRIERS TO EXCLUDE VEHICLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC. CONTRACTOR
SHALL FOLLOW THE CALIFORNIA MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (CALIFORNIA MUTCD) FOR CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE WORK
ZONES, CALTRANS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, AND STANDARD PLANS, DATED 2010. EXACT LOCATION OF ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL TO BE DETERMINED
BY THE ENGINEER AND ADDITIONAL WARNING AND/OR CONSTRUCTION SIGNING MAY BE REQUIRED. DEVICES NO LONGER REQUIRED SHALL BE
REMOVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS TO SENIOR ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION DURING PERMITTING PROCESS.
11. PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES WITHIN PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY.
12. NO EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS SHALL BE STORED ON SIDEWALK AT ANY TIME.
13. AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY, CONDUIT CAPS SHALL BE PLACED ON ALL VACANT DUCTS.
14. THE REMOVAL, STORAGE AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL SHRUBBERY SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. ALL LANDSCAPING AND
IRRIGATION SHALL BE RESTORED TO ORIGINAL OR BETTER CONDITION.
15. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN BIKE LANES OPEN FOR USE DURING CONSTRUCTION. CROSSING ON THE BIKE LANE SHALL BE MADE BY USING JACK
AND BORE.
16. TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONDUITS AND INTERCONNECT CONDUITS MAY NOT BE SHOWN. CONTRACTOR SHALL LOCATE ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONDUITS AND
INTERCONNECT CONDUITS PRIOR TO ANY TRENCHING OR BORING. PROVIDE 3' SEPARATION BETWEEN NEW CONDUITS AND ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND
INTERCONNECT CONDUITS AND 3' FROM ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLERS AND PULL BOXES. ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND INTERCONNECT CONDUITS
SHALL BE MAINTAINED AND PROTECTED.
17. ALL NEW CONDUITS SHALL CONTAIN ONE PULL ROPE FOR FUTURE INSTALLATION OF COMMUNICATION LINE.
18. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING RECORD DRAWINGS FOR ALL WORK THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION. SAID
DRAWINGS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED TO RESIDENT ENGINEER.
19. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROTECTION OF ALL EXISTING SURVEY MONUMENTS OR MARKERS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
20. CONDUIT SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN ONE FOOT EITHER SIDE OF WHEEL TRACKS (PARALLEL TO WHEEL TRACKS). CROSSING ARE ALLOWED.
21. CONDUIT SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY OVER ANY UTILITY LINE (PARALLEL WITH THE LINE). UTILITY LINE CROSSING ARE ALLOWED.
22. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAND DIG AND EXPOSE ALL UTILITY CROSSINGS PRIOR TO ANY OPEN TRENCHING OPERATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
USE EXTREME CARE WHEN EXPOSING EXISTING UTILITIES.
23. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL LOCATE, PROTECT, SHORE, BRACE, SUPPORT, AND MAINTAIN ALL EXISTING FACILITIES INCLUDING, GAS, WATER, IRRIGATION,
SEWER, POWER, STREET LIGHTS, TELEPHONE AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION WHICH MAY BE UNCOVERED OR OTHERWISE AFFECTED BY THE WORK.
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOCATION AND PRESERVATION OF ALL SUCH FACILITIES IN THE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION, AND SHALL
NOTIFY UTILITIES FORTY-EIGHT HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY CONSTRUCTION. USA (UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT) SHALL BE CALLED AT
800-227-2600 BEFORE PLATING TREES, TRENCHING, DIGGING POST HOLES, BLASTING, GRADING, EXCAVATING, DRILLING, BORING, ETC.
24. A 12" (305MM) VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN NEW CONDUITS AND OTHER UTILITIES SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT CROSSINGS. A 3' (914MM) MIN.
HORIZONTAL SEPARATION BETWEEN NEW CONDUITS AND POWER AND WATER UTILITIES THAT RUN PARALLEL SHALL BE MAINTAINED. A 3' (914MM)i
EXCEPT WHERE NOTED, MINIMUM SEPARATION BETWEEN CONDUITS AND SANITARY SEWER AND STORM DRAINS THAT RUN PARALLEL SHALL BE
MAINTAINED, UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE COUNTY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM 3' (914 MM) CLEARANCE FOR ALL
OTHER FACILITIES.
25. ALL BORING SHALL BE OUTSIDE THE DRIP LINE OF ALL TREES TO PREVENT ROOT DAMAGE.
