GENERAL NOTES
R26(S)
1. ALL WORK, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNING AND
STRIPING SHALL CONFORM TO THESE PLANS AND THE STANDARDS
AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CITY OF FONTANA AND THE STANDARDS
AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
2. PAVEMENT MARKERS AND TRAFFIC STRIPING DIMENSIONS SHALL CONFORM
TO CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS DATED JULY 1992.
3. TRAFFIC STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS ON NEW SURFACES SHALL
BE IN TWO SEPARATE COATS. A FINAL COAT IS TO BE APPLIED
BETWEEN 14 AND 30 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST COAT. IT IS THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO APPLY ADDITIONAL COATS
OF PAINT TO TRAFFIC STRIPES AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS IF
REQUIRED.
4. PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL CONFORM TO CITY STANDARD STENCILS.
5. TRAFFIC SIGN DIMENSIONS, COLOR AND LETTERING SHALL CONFORM TO
THE LATEST CALTRANS SIGN SPECIFICATION SHEETS. SIGN CODES
SHOWN HEREON ARE TO CONFORM TO CALTRANS SPECIFICATION SHEET
CODES. TRAFFIC SIGN SIZE SHALL BE STANDARD . UNLESS OTHERWISE
INDICATED ON PLANS.
6. SIGNS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON A "QUICK PUNCH POST' 2" X 2" (12 GA.)
WITH 7/16" HOLES, 1" ON CENTERS, ON FOUR SIDES THAT CAN BE
PUNCHED OUT. LENGTH MAY VARY WITH SIGN INSTALLATION TO
MAINTAIN MINIMUM HEIGHTS. THE ANCHOR SHALL BE A HEAVY DUTY
ONE PEICE ANCHOR, 2 1/27 X 30" X 6 GAUGE (NON -PERFORATED), TO
FIT A 2" SQUARE STEEL POST, PRE -PUNCHED AT MID -POINT OF ANCHOR
WITH ONE 7/16" HOLE ON EACH SIDE, AND AT TOP.
7. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MAINTAIN
BARRICADES, DELINEATORS OR OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.
8. ALL CONFLICTING STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS ARE TO BE
REMOVED FROM THE PAVEMENT BY SANDBLASTING BY THE CONTRACTOR
AND INCLUDES REMOVAL OF RAISED PAVEMENT MARKERS.
9. REMOVAL OF ALL SIGNS AND LEGENDS- SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH
THE CITY OF FONTANA TRAFFIC SECTION. STOP SIGNS AND LEGENDS
WILL BE REMOVED ONLY BY CITY FORCES. FIVE DAYS ADVANCE
WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE TRAFFIC SECTION IS REQUIRED TO
COORDINATE WORK WITH CITY FORCES.
10. EXACT LOCATION OF ALL EQUIPMENT AND CONTROL DEVICES TO BE
DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER. ADDITIONAL WARNING AND/OR
CONSTRUCTION SIGNS MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER. .
11. PAINT USED FOR TRAFFIC STRIPING, CROSSWALKS, LIMIT LINES, ARROWS
AND PAVEMENT LEGENDS SHALL BE RAPID DRY TYPE PER SECTION 84-3
OF CALTRANS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
