1. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT GRADES, DITCHES AND SWALES FROM
UNDERMINING STREET IMPROVEMENTS UPON INSPECTION OF THE SITE, THE
CITY ENGINEER MAY REQUIRE TEMPORARY GUNITE SWALES, ENTERING OR
LEAVING IMPROVEMENTS.
2. WATER VALVE COVERS SHALL BE RAISED TO GRADE BY THE PAVING
CONTRACTOR.
3. AS -BUILT PLANS SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE CITY BY THE CONTRACTOR.
4. ALL UTILITY COMPANIES SHALL BE GIVEN 48 HOURS NOTICE PRIOR TO
WORKING AROUND THEIR FACILITIES.
5. ALL BACKFILL TO BE CERTIFIED BY SOILS ENGINEER.
6. ALL MATERIALS AND METHODS TO BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE
CITY ENGINEER.
7. BACKFILL MATERIALS TO HAVE'AN S.E. OF 30 CMIN.) AND MINIMUM
COMPACTION OF 90%.
8. ALL NEW OR EXISTING VALVE CANS AND MANHOLES SHALL BE ADJUSTED TO
GRADE DURING PAVING.
9. CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL PAVEMENT MARKINGS AND STRIPPING AS REQUIRED
BY THE CITY ENGINEER.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT OPERATE ANY MAIN LINE WATER VALVE ON EXISTING
WATERLINES.
11. IF EXISTING UTILITIES OR OTHER FACILITIES CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED
IMPROVEMENTS, WORK SHALL STOP AND THE ENGINEER NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.
12. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY,OF THE CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE
ENGINEER AFTER THE BASE COURSE HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED AND BEFORE THE
PAVING HAS BEEN INSTALLED SO THAT THE ENGINEER MAY INSTALL THE
STREET CENTERLINE MONUMENTS AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY CODE OF THE
CITY OF FONTANA.
GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD PLANS OF
THE CITY OF FONTANA AND THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC
WORKS CONSTRUCTION, LATEST EDITION.
2. NOTHING IN THESE PLANS SHALL RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FROM OBTAINING
PERMITS AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF FONTANA.
3. THE LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE SHOWN IN AN
APPROXIMATE WAY ONLY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE EXACT
LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES BEFORE COMMENCING WORK. HE
AGREES TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES WHICH MIGHT
BE OCCASIONED BY HIS FAILURE TO EXACTLY LOCATE AND PRESERVE ANY
AND ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVAL, REPLACEMENT
OR RELOCATION OF ALL REGULATORY, WARNING AND GUIDE SIGNS.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT DISTURB EXISTING SURVEY MONUMENTS OR BENCH
MARKS NOTED ON THE PLANS, OR FOUND DURING CONSTRUCTION. REMOVAL AND
REPLACEMENT SHALL BE DONE BY A REGISTERED CIVIL ENGINEER, WITH RCE
NUMBER BELOW 14814, OR A LICENSED LAND SURVEYOR ONLY.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY ENGINEER 48 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY
GRADING, BRUSHING OR CLEARING AND EACH PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION AT
16191 564-2246, AND 48 HOURS PRIOR TO REQUIRING INSPECTION.
7. DURING ROUGH GRADING OPERATIONS AND PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION OF
STRUCTURES, TEMPORARY DRAINAGE CONTROL SHALL BE PROVIDED TO PREVENT
PONDING WATER AND DAMAGE TO ADJACENT PROPERTY.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE MEANS
OF DUST CONTROL WHICH SHALL INCLUDE PROVISIONS FOR ADEQUATE WATERING
DURING THE GRADING PROCESS AND PROVISIONS FOR CONTINUANCE OF DUST
CONTROL AFTER THE GRADING UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT THE GRADED SURFACE
PRESENTS EFFICIENT PROTECTIVE COVER AGAINST WIND OR WATER EROSION
THAT SPECIAL DUST CONTROL MEASURES ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY.
9. LOCATIONS OF FIELD DENSITY TEST SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE SOIL
ENGINEER OR APPROVED TESTING AGENCY AND SHALL BE SUFFICIENT IN BOTH
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PLACEMENT TO PROVIDE REPRESENTATIVE TESTING
OF ALL FILL PLACED. TESTING IN AREAS OF A CRITICAL NATURE OR
SPECIAL EMPHASIS SHALL BE IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL REPRESENTATIVE
SAMPLINGS.
10. ALL UNDERGROUND FACILITIES, WITH LATERIALS, SHALL BE IN PLACE AND
INSPECTED PRIOR TO PAVING. INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE
FOLLOWING: SEWER, WATER, ELECTRIC, GAS AND DRAINAGE.
11. ALL TRAVELED WAYS MUST BE CLEANED DAILY OF ALL DIRT. MUD AND DEBRIS
DEPOSITED ON THEM AS A RESULT OF THE GRADING OPERATION. CLEANING IS
TO BE DONE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY ENGINEER. -
12. ALL CONSTRUCTION AREAS SHALL BE PROPERLY POSTED AND LIGHTED IN CON-
iFORMANCE WITH THE STATE MANUAL OF WARNING SIGNS, LIGHTS AND
DEVICES FOR USE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK UPON HIGHWAYS, IN ORDER
-TO ELIMINATE ANY HAZARDS.
13. ALL EXISTING IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING CURB AND GUTTERS, SIDEWALKS,
ASPHALT CONCRETE OR P.C.C. PAVING, WHICH ARE BEING JOINED OR
MATCHED IN CONNECTION WITH THIS PROJECT, SHALL BE JOINED OR MATCHED
IN A MANNER SATISFACTORY TO THE CITY ENGINEER, INCLUDING NECESSARY
SAW CUTTING, REMOVAL, REPLACEMENT AND CAPPING.
14. CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE FONTANA PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY WORK WITHIN THE CITY
LIMITS.
15. ALL STATIONING REFERS TO CENTERLINE OF STREET.
16. ADEQUATE STAKES SHALL BE SET BY THE ENGINEER TO ENABLE THE CONTRACTOR
TO CONSTRUCT THE WORK TO THE PLAN GRADES.
17. ALL PIPELINE OR SUBSTRUCTURES OF ANY KIND AND ALL TELEPHONE
OR POLES, WATER METERS, VALVES, HYDRANTS, IRRIGATION STRUCTURES,
ETC. SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THIS PLAN AND LOCATED WITHIN AREAS TO BE
IMPROVED AND INTERFERING WITH CONSTRUCTION, SHALL BE RELOCATED BY
OTHERS. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBLITY TO NOTIFY ALL
AGENCIES CONCERNED BEFORE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS.
18. "AS -BUILT" PLANS SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE CITY BY THE CONTRACTOR.
19. MANHOLE FRAMES AND COVERS TO BE CONSTRUCTED BY THE SEWER CONTRACTOR
6" BELOW FINISHED SURFACE GRADE AND UPON COMPLETION OF PAVING. THE
PAVING CONTRACTOR SHALL RAISE SAME TO FINISHED GRADE.
20. INSPECTION TO BE CALLED FOR THROUGH CITY OF FONTANA 07141350-7610
24 HOURS PRIOR TO STARTING WORK.
21. ALL PROPOSED CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING ELEVATIONS OF EXISTING UTILI-
TIES SHALL BE VERIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO START OF ANY
WORK. ANY DEVIATIONS SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY.
22. ALL UTILITIES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED,TESTED, APPROVED, AND BACKFILLED
TO THE SATISFACTION OF AND CERTIFIED BY THE SOILS ENGINEER PRIOR TO
ANY PAVING.
PRIVATE ENGINEER'S NOTE:
THE PRIVATE ENGINEER SIGN-ING THESE PLANS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSURING
THE ACCURACY AND ACCEPTABILITY OF THE WORK HEREON. IN THE EVENT OF
DISCREPANCIES ARISING DURING CONSTRUCTION, THE PRIVATE ENGINEER SHALL
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION AND REVISING
THE PLANS FOR APPROVAL BY THE CITY.
PRIVATE ENGINEER'S NOTES TO CONTRACTOR
THE EXISTENCE AND LOCATION OF ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITY PIPES, CONDUITS
OR STRUCTURES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE OBTAINED BY A SEARCH OF THE
AVAILABLE RECORDS. TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE THERE AREE NO
EXISTING UTILITIES EXCEPT AS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR
IS REQUIRED TO TAKE DUE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO PROTECT THE UTILITY
LINES SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR FURTHER ASSUMES ALL
LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE UTILITY PIPES, CONDUITS OR
STRUCTURES SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS.
CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS
PROJECT, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, THAT THESE
REQUIREMENTS SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL
WORKING HOURS; AND THAT THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND
HOLD THE ENGINEER HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL, OR ALLEGED,
IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING
FOR LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR THE
ENGINEER.
