NOTES
1. CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF FONTANA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT,
ENGINEERING DIVISION PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY WORK. INSPECTION COORDINATION SHALL BE REQUESTED AT LEAST TWO
WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY WORK IN PUBLIC RIGHT—OF—WAY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS. CALL (909) 350-7610.
2. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MAINTAIN BARRICADES, DELINEATORS OR OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL
AT ALL TIMES.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ACCESS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES AT ALL TIMES. A MINIMUM TWELVE FOOT
LANE SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES IN THE CLOSURE AREA FOR RESIDENTS AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM TO ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL POLICIES, METHODS AND PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THE
"W.A.T.C.H. MANUAL", LATEST EDITION UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN TWO WAY TRAFFIC WITH 12' MINIMUM LANE WIDTHS AT ALL TIMES UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED
BY THE CITY ENGINEER. QUALIFIED FLAGGERS SHALL BE USED WHEN THE ROADWAY IS REDUCED TO A SINGLE LANE OR WHERE
TRAFFIC MUST STOP FOR MOVEMENT OF EQUIPMENT.
6. UPON COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION, CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE ALL SIGNING, STRIPING, BARRICADES, AND OTHER TRAFFIC
CONTROL DEVICES TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
7. THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES IS SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
ADDITIONAL WARNING, CONSTRUCTION SIGNS OR TRAFFIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
8. ALL WORK AREAS SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AND DELINEATED WITH CONES, PORTABLE DELINEATORS AND/OR BARRICADES:
ALL DELINEATORS SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 36 INCHES IN HEIGHT, ALL CONES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 28 INCHES IN HEIGHT.
9. ALL SIGNS SHALL BE REFLECTORIZED OR ILLUMINATED.
10. SIGNS SHALL NOT BE PLACED IN EXCESS OF 15 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF THE TRAVELED WAY. PORTABLE SIGN STANDARDS
SHALL BE TIED DOWN OR WEIGHTED TO PREVENT TOPPLING IN ACCORDANCE WITH W.A.T.C.H. MANUAL REQUIREMENTS.
11. ALL EXISTING SIGNS, STRIPING OR PAVEMENT MARKINGS THAT ARE IN CONFLICT AND/OR NO LONGER APPLICABLE SHALL BE
REMOVED.
12. THE WORK ZONE SHALL BE ROUTINELY INSPECTED AND MAINTAINED TO ENSURE PROPER VISIBILITY AND OPERATION OF ALL
TRAFFIC CONTROL AND ADVANCE WARNING DEVICES.
13. ALL FLASHING YELLOW WARNING LIGHTS SHALL BE TYPE "A" PORTABLE, LENS DIRECTED, ENCLOSED AND MOUNTED AT A
MINIMUM HEIGHT OF THREE FEET, MEASURED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE LENS TO THE UNDERLYING SURFACE.
14. ADVANCE CONSTRUCTION SIGNING INDICATING DURATION OF PROJECT SHALL BE IN PLACE ONE WEEK PRIOR TO IMPLEMENTING
DETOURS.
15. TRAFFIC SIGN DIMENSIONS, COLOR AND LETTERING SHALL CONFORM TO THE LATEST CALTRANS SIGN SPECIFICATION SHEETS.
SIGN CODES SHOWN HEREON ARE TO CONFORM TO CALTRANS SPECIFICATION SHEET CODES. TRAFFIC SIGN SIZE SHALL BE
STANDARD UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE PLANS.
16. ALL SIGNS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON GALVANIZED STEEL POSTS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE PLANS, PER CITY
STANDARD DETAIL 139.
17. CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE W.A.T.C.H. MANUAL. CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE STAGED AS REQUIRED
TO MAINTAIN TRAFFIC FLOW.
18. FOR LATERALS THAT EXTEND BEYOND CONSTRUCTION AREAS SHOWN, USE "W.A.T.C.H. MANUAL", INCLUDING STAGING AND
FLAGGING.
19. CONFLICTING STRIPING/MARKINGS TO BE REMOVED BY METHOD AS DESCRIBED BY THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS, SECTION E.
20. TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SCREEN SHALL BE INSTALLED ON TEMPORARY RAILING PER CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS PAGE T4
EXCEPT WHERE SIGHT DISTANCE IS RESTRICTED BY SUCH SCREENING, AND AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
