Traffic signal interconnect and the installation thereof shall conform to these plans, the Standard Plans and Specifications for the City of Fontana,the State of California Standard Specifications, Section 86, dated May 2006, and Standard Plans dated May 2006, and the Special Provisions. 2. All required construction permits shall be obtained from the City of Fontana, Engineering Division prior to commencement of work. 3. The Contractor shall repair all damaged landscaping and irrigation to the satisfaction of the Engineer. 4. Conduit shall not be installed within one foot either side of wheel tracks (parallel to wheel tracks). 5. Conduit shall not be installed directly over any utility line (parallel with the line). Utility line crossings are allowed. 6. The Contractor shall obtain approval from the Engineer for exact equipment locations prior to final placement. 7. Pull boxes and splice vaults shall not be located in driveways or other locations which may interfere with the movement of people or vehicles. Pull box locations shall be adjusted as needed.. 8. All pull boxes shall be No. 6 and conduit shall be 2" galvanized rigid metal unless otherwise shown. All splice vaults shall be TYPE P48 48.5" x30.5" x30" deep (inside), fiberglass, have locking lids, and be labeled "COMMUNICATIONS". Pull boxes and splice vaults shall be installed in accordance with the project details for pull box and splice vault installation. 9. Where conduit is installed and disturbs existing striping, the Contractor shall arrange and pay for striping. See Special Provisions for the Contractor's responsibility for temporary pavement markings. 10. All PCC sidewalk damaged by the Contractor's operation shall be sawcut, removed, and replaced to existing expansion/scribe joints. 11. The Contractor shall locate, protect, shore, brace, support, and maintain all existing facilities including gas, water, irrigation, sewer poser, street lights, telephone and other construction which may be uncovered or otherwise affected by the work. The Contractor shall be responsible for the location and preservation of all such facilities in the area of construction, and shall notify utilities forty-eight (48) hours in advance of any construction. 13. All traffic control devices shall be in place before work is started. Traffic control, work zones, and lane closures shall be completely delineated by channelization devices and shielded by barriers to exclude vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic. The Contractor shall follow the California Manual on Uniform Control Devices MUTCD for streets and highways dated September 2006, the State of California Standard Specifications dated May 2006 and Standard Plans dated May 2006. The exact location of all traffic control to be determined by the Engineer and additional warning and/or construction signing may be required. Devices no longer required shall be removed as soon as possible. The Contractor shall provide traffic control plans to the Engineer for approval prior to construction. 14. Pedestrian traffic must be maintained at all times. Pedestrians may be relocated onto private property with owner's permission only. 15. No equipment or materials shall be stored on sidewalk at any time. 16. A 12" vertical separation between new conduits and other utilities shall be maintained at crossings. A 3' min. horizontal separtation between new conduits and power and water utilities that run parallel shall be maintained. A 3' (except where noted) minimum separation between conduit and sanitary sewer and storm drains that run parallel shall be maintained, unless otherwise approved by the county. The Contractor shall maintain a minimum 3' clearance for all other facilities. 17. At the end of each work day, conduit caps shall be placed on all vacant ducts. 18. The removal, storage and replacement of all shrubbery shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. All landscaping shall be restored to original or better condition. 19. All borings shall be outside the drip line of all trees to prevent root damage. 20. Caution! Buried traffic signal loops, damaged or cut, shall be replaced by the Contractor to CALTRANS specifications. Notify city inspector immediately and the Traffic Department 24 hours prior to any work in these areas. 21. The Contractor shall maintain bike path open for use during construction. Crossing on the bike path shall be made by using jack and bore or by night work. All trenching shall be restored before daylight use. Traffic control signing shall be used to warn traffic of the construction operation. 22. All existing traffic signal circuits and interconnect conduits may not be shown. The Contractor shall locate all traffic signal circuits and interconnect conduits prior to any trenching or boring. Provide 3' separation between new conduits and all traffic signal and interconnect conduits and 3' from all traffic signal controllers and pull boxes. All traffic signal and interconnect conduits shall be maintained and protected. 23. Unless otherwise noted, all conduits crossing signalized intersections, CALTRANS, SANBAG or METROLINK/SORRA R/W shall be bored between splice vaults. 24. All new conduits shall contain one (1) #19 green stranded pull wire for future use. 25. The Contractor shall furnish and install color coded conduits where specified on plans. The conduits shall be color coded orange, yellow, red, black, blue, and green. 26. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining record drawings for all work throughout the course of construction. 27. The Contractor shall be responsible for the protection of all existing survey monuments or marers during construction. 28. If unusual amounts of bone, stone, or artifacts are uncovered, work within 165 feet of the area shall cease immediately and a qualified archaeologist shall be consulted to develop, if necessary, mitigation measures to deduce any archaeological impact to a less than provision. 29. The cost to remove and replace existing pavement over utility line trenches shall be included in the bid price. trenches shall be back filled and pavement shall be replaced per city DETAIL CE12. Pavement shall be replaced in kind (minimum of 4" AC or 12" AB) as determined in the field by the Engineer. All striping and pavement markings shall be restored (in thermoplastic). 30. For work on CALTRANS right-of-way, contact CALTRANS 10 working days in advance of construction.
