STRUCTURAL NOTES
STRUCTURAL CONCRETE SHALL BE CLASS "A" (fc-5000 PSI)"
WITH THE FOLLOWING "CONCRETE FOR CHANNEL INVERT, STARTER
WALLS AND CUTOFF WALLS SHALL BE CLASS D CONCRETE
(1 1/2 INCH AGGREGATE, 5000 PSI) AND CONCRETE FOR CHANNEL
WALLS, RCB DECK AND OTHER STRUCTURAL CONCRETE SHALL BE
CLASS A CONCRETE ( 1 INCH AGGREGATE, 4000 PSI).
ALL LONGITUDINAL BARS SHALL BE #4 @ 14 INCHES UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED. PLACE BARS IN BOTTOM SLAB SYMMETRICALLY
ABOUT CENTERLINE. PLACE BARS IN WALLS STARTING AT TOP
WITH 2 INCHES OF CLEAR COVER.
CLEAR COVER FOR STEEL SHALL BE 2 INCHES AND 3 INCHES FOR
EARTHEN WALL AND EARTHEN INVERTS FACES, AND 2 1/2 INCHES
AND 4 INCHES FOR THE CHANNEL WALL AND INVERT FACES.
STEEL IS DIMENSIONED TO BACK OF BAR BEND.
FOR CONSTRUCTION ON CURVES, STRAIGHT TRANSVERSE BARS
SHALL BE ALIGNED RADIALLY WITH SPACING MEASURED AT FACE
OF WALL. FOR L -BARS IN WALLS, SPACING SHALL BE MEASURED
BETWEEN THE VERTICAL LEGS OF BARS.

SECTIONS AS SHOWN IN DETAIL B. DOWELS SHALL BE PLACED AT
12 INCHES SPACING CENTERED IN THE MIDDLE THIRD OF THE
BOTTOM SLAB AND THE TOP TOP THIRD OF SIDE WALLS. A MINIMUM
OF 3 DOWELS PER SLAB AND WALLS SHALL BE PLACED.
WEEPHOLES SHALL BE FORMED AS SHOWN IN BOTH WALLS AT A
SPACING OF 12.5 FEET WITH 1 CUBIC FOOT OF FILTER MATERIAL
WRAPPED IN FILTER FABRIC PLACED AT EACH HOLE.
ALL QUANTITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE.
NO SPLICES IN TRANSVERSE STEEL REINFORCEMENT WILL BE PERMITTED
OTHER THAN SHOWN ON THE DRAWING WITHOUT APPROVAL OF THE
ENGINEER. NO MORE THAN TWO SPLICES WILL BE PERMITTED IN ANY
LONGITUDINAL BAR BETWEEN TRANSVERSE JOINTS.
THE BAR LENGTH SHALL VARY UNIFORMLY THROUGHOUT THE
TRANSITIONS.
JOINT FINISH FOR CHANNEL FACE SHALL BE CHAMFERED 3/4 INCH
ON WALLS AND ROUNDED WITH EDGER TOOL ON INVERT.
ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL CONFORM TO A.S.T.M. A615 GRADE 60.
LONGITUDINAL STEEL SHALL BE LAPPED 24 BAR DIAMETER AT SPLICES.
TRANSVERSE STEEL SHALL BE LAPPED 45 BAR DIAMETERS AT SPLICES.
SPLICES SHALL BE STAGGERED.
TRANSVERSE CONSTRUCTION JOINTS SHALL NOT BE PLACED WITHIN 30 INCHES
OF SIDE INLETS.
TRANSVERSE CONSTRUCTION JOINTS SHALL BE PLACED AT THE JUNCTION
OF RECTANGULAR OPEN CHANNEL SECTIONS WITH CLOSED CONDUIT SECTIONS
(R.C.B.S.)
TRANVERSE CONSTRUCTION JOINTS IN WALLS AND SLABS SHALL BE IN THE
SAME PLANE NO STAGGERING OF JOINTS WILL BE PERMITTED. TRANSVERSE
CONSTRUCTION JOINTS SHALL BE NORMAL OR RADIAL TO THE CENTERLINE OF
CONSTRUCTION.
SAWCUT WEAKENED PLANE JOINTS, 1 -INCH DEEP AND 1/8 -INCH WIDE, IN
INVERT SLAB AND WALLS AT 12.5 -FEET O.C. BETWEEN THE CONSTRUCTION
JOINTS.
CHANNEL INVERT SURFACE SHALL BE GIVEN A STEEL TROWEL FINISH.
EPDXY ADHESIVE FOR WEEPHOLE SCREEN SHALL CONFORM TO THE 2002 EDITION
OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, SECTION 95-204, RAPID SET EPDXY ADHESIVE
FOR PAVEMENT MARKERS.
ALL RECTANGULAR OPEN CHANNEL WALLS SHALL BE FENCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
