1 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE CITY ENGINEER FOR CLOSURE BEGINNING
AND ENDING DATES.
2. THE ROAD CLOSED INFORMATIONAL SIGNS SHALL BE POSTED A MINIMUM OF THREE WEEKS
PRIOR TO CLOSING (STREET NAME). FINAL PWEMENT OF THE "ROAD CLOSED" SIGNAGE
TO BE COORDINATED WITH THE CITY OF FONTANA TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING POLICE, FIRE AND OTHER
EMERGENCY SERVICES OF THE CLOSURE AND DETOUR ROUTE SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE
CLOSURE.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER OF THE CLOSURE DATES AND
DETOUR ROUTE TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO CLOSING THE ROADWAY.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLOSE TRAFFIC LANE(S) ON JURUPA AVENUE AND SIERRA AVENUE
PER TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS, BETWEEN THE SHOWN LIMITS. (SEE CONSTRUCTION NOTE 3.)
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH REFLECTOR/FLASHING LIGHTS AND INSTALL THEM ON
WOODEN BARRICADES.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING ALL CLOSURE SIGNS,
BARRICADES AND WARNING DEVICES FOR 24 -HOURS PER DAY AND 7 DAYS A WEEK AND
SHALL DESIGNATE A SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS EFFORT.
8. THE WORK ZONE SHALL BE ROUTINELY INSPECTED AND MAINTAINED TO ENSURE PROPER
VISIBILITY AND OPERATION OF ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL AND ADVANCE WARNING DEVICES.
9. ALL EXISTING SIGNS, STRIPING OR PAVEMENT MARKINGS THAT ARE IN CONFLICT AND/OR NO
LONGER APPLICABLE SHALL BE REMOVED AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
10. CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF FONTANA COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, ENGINEERING DIVISION PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY WORK.
INSPECTION COORDINATION SHALL BE REQUESTED AT LEAST TWO WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO
THE START OF ANY WORK IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS. CALL (909)

11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM TO ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL POLICIES, METHODSs DETAILS,,
DIMENSIONS, AND PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THE 2003 MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC
CONTROL DEVICES (MUTCD) AND THE 2003 MUTCD CALIFORNIA SUPPLEMENT, UNLESS
OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
12. THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES IS SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE
CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER. ADDITIONAL WARNING, CONSTRUCTION SIGNS OR TRAFFIC SAFETY
EQUIPMENT MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER AT ANY TIME.
13. ALL WORK AREAS SHALL BE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AND DELINEATED NTH CONES, PORTABLE
DELINEATORS AND/OR BARRICADES. ALL PORTABLE DELINEATORS SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF
36 INCHES IN HEIGHT. ALL CONES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 28 INCHES IN HEIGHT.
14. ALL SIGNS SHALL BE REFLECTORIZED OR ILLUMINATED.
15. ALL SIGNING, STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE
2003 MUTCD AND THE 2003 MUTCD CALIFORNIA SUPPLEMENT. TRAFFIC SIGN SIZE SHALL BE
STANDARD UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE PLANS.
16 ALL SIGNS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON GALVANIZED STEEL POSTS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN
ON PLANS, PER CITY STANDARD DETAIL 139. FINAL PLACEMENT TO BE APPROVED BY THE
CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING ACCESS TO ANY PRIVATE
PROPERTY OWNERS LOCATED WITHIN THE ROAD CLOSURE THROUGHOUT THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THE IMPROVEMENTS AND DURING THE DURATION OF THE ROAD CLOSURE 24 -HOURS A
DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK.
18. UPON COMPLETION OF THE CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE ALL SIGNING,
STRIPING, BARRICADES AND OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES TO THE SATISFACTION OF
THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER.

"'NO PARKING" SIGNS SHALL BE FHWA TYPE 11 SUPER ENGINEERING GRADE RETROREFLEC-nVE
SHEETING, AND ALL SCHOOL SIGNS SHALL BE DIAMOND GRADE (FHWA TYPE IX)
FLUORESCENT YELLOW -GREEN (FYG) RETROREFLECTIVE SHEETING.
4. ALL DELINEATORS AND CHANNELIZERS SHALL BE OF FHWA TYPE VII RETROREFLECTIVE
SHEETING.
5. SIGNS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON METAL POSTS SIMILAR TO COUNTY STANDARDS 303(A) AND
303(B).
6. ALL CONFLICTING STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS NOT SHOWN ON PLANS SHALL BE
REMOVED BY THE CONTRACTOR. REMOVAL SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY SANDBLASTING,
GRINDING, OR AS DIRECTED BY COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE.
7. ALL CONFLICTING SIGNS SHALL BE REMOVED, RELOCATED, OR COVERED BY THE
CONTRACTOR. RELOCATABLE SIGNS SHALL BE INSTALLED AS SPECIFIED ON THE PLANS OR
AS DIRECTED BY COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE.
8. ALL EXISTING SIGNING, STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS, (I.E. CROSS STREET STOP,
STOP LIMIT LINE AND CROSSWALK PAVEMENT MARKINGS) NOT SHOWN ON PLANS, IF
REMOVED/OBLITERATED, SHALL BE REPLACED/RESTORED OF SAME KIND, AND IN
CONFORMANCE WITH THE CURRENT EDITION OF THE MUTCD 2003 AND THE CALIFORNIA
SUPPLEMENT TO THE MUTCD 2003.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE TO SCHEDULE A FINAL REVIEW
