THE CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT,
INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, THAT HIS REQUIREMENT SHALL
APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS, AND THAT THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER
HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL AND ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE
PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING THE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE
SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR THE ENGINEER.
GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL GRADING WORK SHOWN ON THIS PLAN SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH
APPENDIX, CHAPTER 33 OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE.
2. A PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED FROM THE COUNTY OF THE SAN BERNARDINO
BUILDING DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF ANY GRADING WORK WITHIN
THIS TRACT.
3. ANY CONTRACTOR PERFORMING WORK ON THIS TRACT SHALL FAMILIARIZE
HIMSELF WITH THE SITE AND SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY
DAMAGE TO EXISTING FACILITIES RESULTING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM
HIS OPERATION. WHETHER OR NOT SUCH FACILITIES ARE SHOWN ON THESE
PLANS.
4. ALL GRADING SHALL CONFORM TO THE RECOMMENDATION AND REQUIREMENT
OF THE PRELIMINARY SOILS REPORT. COPIES ON FILE AT THE COUNTY BUILDING
DEPARTMENT AND THE OFFICE OF McKEEVER ENGINEERING.

QUANTITIES AND TAKING THE NECESSARY STEPS TO BALANCE THEM.
6. THE PROPOSED STARTING AND COMPLETION DATES FOR THE ROUGH GRADING

RESPECTIVELY. ANY GRADING OPERATIONS BETWEEN OCTOBER 1 AND APRIL 15
EPP WILL REQUIRE SUBMITTAL OF TEMPORARY DRAINAGE AND EROSION CONTROL PLANS
FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. THE CONTROL DEVICES SHOWN ON SAID PLANS MUST
12" BE INSTALLED NOT LATER THAN NOVEMBER 1 AND BE MAINTAINED IN OPERABLE
CONDITION UNTIL APRIL 15.
7. THE CIVIL ENGINEER'S RESPONSIBILITY SHALL BE THOSE THAT ARE WITHIN HIS
AREA OF SPECIAL EXPERTISE AS SPECIFIED IN APPENDIX CHAPTER 3317.2 OF
THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. THEIR RESPONSIBILITY SHALL INCLUDE INSPECTION
w AND APPROVAL AS TO ESTABLISHMENT OF LINE, GRADE AND DRAINAGE OF THE
DEVELOPMENT AREA. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE
SUPERINTENDENCE OF CONSTRUCTION PROCESS, SITE CONDITIONS, COMPACTION,
OPERATIONS, EQUIPMENT, PERSONNEL, OR THE MAINTENANCE OF A SAFE PLACE TO
WORK, OR ANY SAFETY IN, ON, OR ABOUT THE SITE.
8. PRIOR TO PLACING ANY FILLS, THE SITE SHALL BE CLEARED OF ALL VEGETATION
AND IRRIGATION LINES. ANY OBSTRUCTIONS WHICH MAY BE REVEALED DURING
GRADING SHALL BE REMOVED AND THE CAVITIES CREATED BROUGHT TO GRADE
WITH PROPERLY COMPACTED FILL (90%).
12" 9. THE SUBEXCAVATION SURFACE AND SURFACES TO RECEIVE FILL SHALL BE
SCARIFIED OF BLADE MIXED TO A DEPTH OF AT LEAST 12 INCHES.
SUBEXCAVATION OF THE BUILDING SITES IS REQUIRED IN THE CUT AREAS (REFER
TO SOILS REPORT).
10. THE SCARIFIED SOILS SHALL BE MOISTENED TO BETWEEN OPTIMUM MOISTURE
CONTENT AND 3% ABOVE AND COMPACTED TO A RELATIVE COMPACTION OF AT
LEAST 90% (ASTM D 1557-91).
11. NO FILL TO BE PLACED UNTIL PREPARATION OF THE ORIGINAL GROUND IS
APPROVED.
12. FILL SHALL BE SPREAD IN 8" OR LESS LIFTS, EACH LIFT MOISTENED TO BETWEEN
OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT, AND 3% ABOVE AND COMPACTED TO A RELATIVE
COMPACTION OF AT LEAST 90% (ASTM D 1557-91) (BY SHEEPS FOOT ROLLER OR
ANY EQUIVALENT COMPACTING EQUIPMENT).
13• NO ROCK GREATER THAN 6 INCHES IN DIAMETER, UNLESS ACCEPTABLE TO THE
SOILS ENGINEER, MAY BE PLACED IN FILL.
14. NUMBER OF COMPACTION TESTS SHALL BE ONE TEST FOR EACH TWO FEET OF
FILL OR 1,000 CU. YDS., WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
15. THE GRADING INSPECTOR IS TO BE CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A PRE --GRADING
MEETING 48 HOURS PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF GRADING.
16. A COMPACTION TEST REPORT SHALL BE SUBMITTED AND APPROVED BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND SAFETY PRIOR TO FOUNDATION INSPECTION.
17. A TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR ANY
EPP CONSTRUCTION, TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT, ON COUNTY RIGHT OF WAY
O OR FOR USE OF COUNTY MAINTAINED ROADS BY OVERLOAD EQUIPMENT.
18. ENGINEER MUST SET GRADE STAKES FOR ALL DRAINAGE DEVICES. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY INSPECTIONS BEFORE POURING.
19. FOUNDATION SAFE SOIL BEARING PRESSURE OF __ LBS. PER SQUARE
FOOT PLUS LIVE LOADS IS DESIRED.
