insurance as required by all applicable codes,
recpil3tions and the owner.

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY: !'he c?esign, a,1e(rlacy 'Aird safety of

responsible for the stability of any structures and

provide stability during tl,e entire construction
progress. Observation visits to the site by the
Landscape Architect ur his cor►cultants shall not include
inspection of the above items.
7.
SURVEYS, PERMITS, REGULATIONS: The Owner shall
furnish an ade9tiate survey of the property. The
Contractor aha 11 obtain and pay for all permits and
comply with .til laws and ordin.nnces hearinq oil the

operation or conduct of the work as drawn, with all
laws and ordinances hearing un the operation or conduct
of the work as drawn and specified. If the Cot,tractor
observes tltat a variance exists therewith lie shall
promptly notify the Uw,ter'y representative in writir,q,
and my necessary chanc3ea shall be adjusted as provided
in the contract for changes in the work.

PROTECTION OF WORK, PROPERTY AND PERSON: The Cor,tr;ictor
shall adequately protect the work ad jacent property and
the public, and shall be responsiUle for any damage or
injury due to his act. -
9.
CHANGES IN THE WORK: The Owner may order Qlianges in the
work. The contracC`sum being adjusted acL:ordin'31y. All
such orders and adjustments plus claims by tine
Contractor for extras must be made before executing the
work involved.

PRaDVISIONS FOR EXTRAS: No riew work of arty kind shall be
considered an extra unless a separate estimate is given
for said work before it is commenced arid anti 1 same is
approved by the Owrter, and them not unless the Uwner
first so ordered in writing and the particular extra
work is specified in writing and the cost agreed upon
between the Owner and the Contractor. Except for extra
work ordered by the Owner according to unit prices which
have been bid, any extra work performed, not authorized
as provided above, will not and cannot be paid for by
lite Owner.

SUBSTITIITUIOM: All materials shall be specified unless
the Contractor can establish the fact that they are
unavailable, and substitutions are approved in writirrc3
by the Landscape Architect.
12.
CORRECTION OF WORK: The Contractor shall res -execute any
work that fails to conform to the requirements of the
contract and shall remedy defects due to faulty
materials or workmanship uMn written notice from the
project manager for a period of ninety says (90) f puri
date of completion of the contract. The irrigation
r,yet.am shall carry a opt; year guarantee. The above
paragraph applie;t to the ws�rk of subcontractors as well
as employees of the COntrat:COc.
13.
LANDSCAPE CO-ORDINATO RS STATUSs The landscape
coordinator acts as the authorized represeritativr of the
Owner in conjunction: with the project manager, and has
the authority to accept of reject materials oc
workmanship and to make minor changes in work riot
involving extra cost. Ne will also interpret the
meaning of the contract document• arrd nay stop the work
if necessary to insure its proper execution.
14.
CLARIFICATION OF DRAWINGS BEFORE BIDDING: After
reviewing the drawings thoroughly it is the C'ontractor's
resp�nsihility to clarify with the Landscape Architect
or Owner's Representative, any sluestions the Cor tractor
may have regarding the method of construction,
quantities, or quality of materials indicated or called
011t. If the Contractor cannot contact the Landscape
Architect or Owner's Representative, the Contractor
roust dual i fy his bid or accept the interpretation of
the T.andscape Architect or the Owner's Representative on
the tlt,estionable areas as they develop during
construction .
15.
BAMPLES: The Landscape• Architect reserves the riclht to
take and analyze samples of materials for conformity to
specifications at any time. The Contractor shall
furnish samples upon request by the Landscape
Architect. Refected material shall he immediately
removed from the site and replaced at Contractors
expense. The cost of teat inq materials net meeting
specifications shall be paid by the Contractor.
16.
PRF -CONSTRUCTION CONFF.RF.NCR: Schedule a pre -
construction meeting with the Landscape Architect at
least 7 drys before heginninq work. Tete purpose of this
conference is to review any questions the Contractor may
h�+ve reslardinq the work administrative prr,cedures tlirrirta
construction and project work schedule.
17.
COMPI.ETION: Completion is defined as heinq when it l
conditions of the contrPkct have been Accomplished.
Specifically when all items are installed, the areas
cleaned and the maintenance period satisfactorily
completed, and when all special tools and Pcluiprtent,
instructions, written guarantees, as-huilts Mans, lien
ieleases and any items required by the Contract
siocuments have been properly executed anti deliverer: to
thtt Owner.
The Landscape Architect shall have full authority to
accept or reject the contract items and will promptly
notify the Owner of completion.
19.
GURARANTEE: In addition to specified guarantees
provided for in the separate sections of the
specifications, the Contractor aitall quarantee in
writing all workman -ship and materials to l•e free from
defect for a period of one year from the date of
acceptance of the work by the Owner without additional
cost to the Owner.

IRRIGATION SPECIFICATIONS .
I SCOPE OF WORK:
T'he C'ontra,-tor shall provide all labor, tools, machinery and

II GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
��F.RIFICATZON OP DIMCNSION: All scaled dimensions are
ar,t)roximate. Before proceeding with any work, the

drawings. Any deviation from the plans must have the .

G. GOVrRNIPi*i RFG(IT.ATION: All local, municipal and state laws,
rules anti regulations governing or relating to any portion
of this work are hereby incorporated Into and made a part of
r -hese specifications, and their provisions shall be carried
ot,t by the sprinkler contractor.

I. INSTAI.LATION: All irrigation materials shall be installed
in accordance with the techniques and specificettions set
forth by each respective manufacturer. '111 pertinent

the Owner's authorizer' representative. Such installation
Practices shall he followed only if the directions of the
irrigation drawings and specifications do not thoroughly and

J. STTE PROBLEMS: The irrigation contractor shall not
willfully install the sprinkler systen" as indicated on
drawings when it is obvious in the $ield that there are
t,nknown obstructions, grade differences, and/or
.iisc•repartcies in the area dimensions until such conditions
arN hrot,sTht co the attention of the Landscape Architect.
III MATERIALS:

tools:

and valuta supplied on this project.
• Two (2) five foot valve keys for operation of eagle

' Four (4) quick coupler keys rind matching hose
swivels for each type of quick coupling valve
installed.
2. Turn over the required equipment to the Owner at
the conclusion of ilia proiect, prior to Pinel
inspection.
IV INSTALLATION:
A. EXCAVATION:
I. The contractor shall verify exact locations of all
exist inq subsurface utilities (any mechanical and
electrical) prig to excavation. Any utilities,
A.C. Paving, concrete work, etc., destroyed or ,lamaged
by Any work tinder this contract shall be repaired or
replaced at the Contractor's expense.
2. Trenches for pipe •hall he cut to required grade line
at a true gradic!nt to provide uniform support for the
fuil length of pipe.

minimum cover above the top of Lhe pipe as noted on
-the drawings.
S. JOINING PIPE:
1. The Contractor is responsible to be familiar with the
methods of assembling, joining, and installing the
various type of pipe to be used. He will adhere in
strict accordance with the m+anufaeturer'• recommended
procedures.

C. RACRPLOW PREVrNTP.R: The backflow prevention device
specified herein shall he verified with Local Plumbing and

notified PRIOR TO BID OPrAING.
D. TEATS:

1. Shrubbery or groundcover spray heads adjacent to curbs
or walks shall he installed G" away from the curb or
walk arid the nozzle shall be G" above finished grade,
unless otherwise indicated.
2. Shrubbery spray heads adjacent to buildings, fences, or
similar structures shall be installed G" away from the
structure and the nozzle shall be 6" above finished
grade. Shrobhery spray heads not near paving -or
structures spall he set 6" above finish grade, unless
other wise indicated.

Procure from Landscape Architect transparency (osalid) of
pipinq layout and accurately locate valves, existing trees
for future use, remote control valves with number of
etatictns, dad wiring from controllers to remote control
valves. TDimrensioa from two permanent features such as
hr:i1dings and walks. After final inspection and before
final payment, transparency •hall he delivered to Landscape
Architect. One set of prints •hall be supplied to Ownt:c by
the Contractor.
VI CLEAN-UP:
A. SCOPi! AILD FREOUENCTt After all installation operations
have been completed, remove all trash, excess soil and
rul�biah from the property. All scars, ruts or other
marks in the area caused by this work shall be repaired
and the g:otind' lest in a neat arrd orderly condition
throughout the site. The Contractor shall pick up &I
trash resulting from this work no less than eact. Friday
before leaving the site, once a week and/or the 'last
working day each weak. All trash shall be removed
comT►letely from t)te site.

VII COMPLETION:
A. iNSPECTIOM: inspection of complete irrigation system
will he made qt pre -maintenance and final in-spection for
Plrntinq, per arrangement with Landscape Architect.
S. MIARANTEES: ^'he entire spreinkler system shall be
guaranteed by the contractor as to material and
workmanship, including settling of backfilled areas
I below grade for a period of (1) year following the date
of final acceptance of the work. If, within one year
from the date of completion settling occurs, and
adjustments in pipes, valves and sprinkler heads, sod or
Paving is necessary to bring the system, sod or paving
to the proper level of the permanent grades, tits
Contractor, as part of work under this contract,
shall make all adjustments without extra cost to the
Owner, including the complete restoration of all dam ged
planting, paving or other inprovsments of any kind.
C. RESPONSIBILITY: Should an operational difficulties in
connection with the sprinkler system develop within the
specified guarantee period which is in the opinion of
the I.rtndscape Architect due to inferior material and/or
workmanship, said difficulties shall be immediately
corrected by the Contractor to the satisfaction of the
I.Andscape Architect at no additional cost to the owner,
including any and all other damage caused by such
defects.
". It1STRUCTION: After the system has been completed and
the connections made, the Contractor shall instruct the
Owner or his representative, in the operation and .
maintenance of the system. .
F. TEMPORARY RFPAIR3s The Owner reserves the right to
make temporary repairs as necessary to keep the
sprinkler system equipment in operating condition. The -
exercise of this right by the Owner shall not relieve
the Contractor of his responsibilities under the terms
of the guarantee as herein specified.
PLANTING SPECIFICATIONS
SCOPE OF WORK:
A. Furnish all labor, materials, and scluipment necessary to
provide and instal L plant materials as shown on the
drawings or a• speed herein.

2. Commercial fertilizer - shall be chmmercial grade,

from non -leaching, coated, controlled release
fertilizer for sustained feeding of four to six
eronths, in a slow soluble, non-buzning form.
Fertiliser shall be delivered to the site in the
original unopened ccntainur, bear inq the
manuracturer-a guaranteed analysis. Any fertiliser
that becomes caked or damaged, making it unsuitable
for use, will not he acQppted.

1. Topsoil shall consist of a fertile, friable natural
loam of teniform quality free from subsoil, hard
clods, stiff clay, hard pan, sods, partially
disintegrated clehris, or any other undesirable
material.

morning glory, spore, oxtails, spurge, annual poa,
nut grass or hermuda grass. In no case shall there

A. MITRACTOR'S RF,SPONSIBILITY: The Contractor is
responsible for verifying the location of all utility
linea and other underground obstruction• so that proper
precautions may be taken not to disturb or damage such
improvements. In the event of a conflict between such
lines and plant locations, the Contractor shall promptly
notify the Landscape Architect, wtio shall arrange fpr
the relocation of one or the other. Flailing to follow
this procedure, the Contractor shall at his own expense .
