1. IT IS THE INTENTION OF THESE SPECIFICATIONS TO ACCOMPLISH
THE WORK OF INSTALLING A SPRINKLER SYSTEM WHICH WILL OPERATE
IN AN EFFICIENT AND SATISFACTORY MANNER ACCORDING TO THE
WORKMANLIKE STANDARDS ESTABLISHED FOR SPRINKLER OPERATIONS.
2. THE WORK INCLUDED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS SHALL CONSIST OF
FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, TOOLS, MATERIAL, APPLIANCES, TESTS,
PERMITS, ETC., NECESSARY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A LANDSCAPE
SPRINKLER SYSTEM, AS HEREIN SHOWN, NO SUBSTITUTIONS SHALL BE
MADE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL. AND ACCEPTANCE BY THE OWNER
ANNOR r3f3MNING ASE MS . MATERIALS NOT APPROVED MAY BE
REJECTED BY OWNER OR GOVERNING AGENCIES AND REPLACED WITH
THE REQUIRED MATERIALS AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
3. THE SYSTEM SHALL EFFICIENTLY AND EVENLY IRRIGATE ALL AREAS
TO BE WATERED AND BE COMPLETE IN EVERY RESPECT AND SHALL BE
LEFT READY FOR OPERATION TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER'S
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE.
4. ALL LOCAL, MUNICIPAL AND STATE LAWS AND RULES AND
REGULATIONS GOVERNING OR RELATING TO ANY PORTION OF THIS
WORK ARE HEREBY INCORPORATED INTO AND MADE A PART OF THESE
SPECIFICATIONS AND THEIR PROVISIONS SHALL BE CARRIED OUT BY
THE SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR.
5. THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH TO THE OWNER A
COMPLETE 'AS BUILT' DRAWING ON VELLUM SHOWING EXACT
LOCATIONS OF ALL ITEMS INSTALLED, THESE DRAWINGS TO BE
DELIVERED ON OR BEFORE FINAL INSPECTION BY THE OWNER'S
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE.
6. SHOULD IT BECOME EVIDENT THAT UNKNOWN OBSTRUCTIONS, GRADE
DIFFERENCES OR DIFFERENCES IN THE AREA DIMENSIONS EXIST THAT
MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED IN THE ENGINEERING, SUCH
OBSTRUCTIONS OR DIFFERENCES SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE
ATTENTION OF THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE FOR
REVISION PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. IN THE EVENT THIS
NOTIFICATION IS NOT PERFORMED, THE IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR
SHALL ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REVISIONS THAT MAY
BE NECESSARY.
7. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR TO
FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH ALL GRADE DIFFERENCES, LOCATION OF
WALLS, -RETAINING WALLS, AND SUBSTRUCTURE UTILITIES, POINTS
OF CONNECTIONS, ETC. HE SHALL COORDINATE HIS WORK WITH THE
OTHER GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND OTHER SUBCONTRACTORS FOR ANY
LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF PIPE SLEEVES THROUGH WALLS,
UNDER PAVING, WALKS, ROADWAYS, STRUCTURES, ETC.
MATERIALS:

1. CLASS 315. Oe SC" 40 PTC r-012
2. ALL SPRINKLER LATERAL LINE PIPING SHALL BE PVC CL. 200
MINIMUM.
3. ALL PVC FITTINGS SHALL BE HIGH IMPACT SCHEDULE 40.
4. ALL CONTROL WIRING SHALL BE COLOR CODED AND SIZED PER VALUE
MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS,
INSTALLATION:
1. SPACING OR SPRINKLER HEADS AND LOCATIONS OF VALVES AND
BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES SHALL BE INDICATED ON THE
DRAWINGS. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE DRAWINGS MUST HAVE
APPROVAL OF THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE.
CONTRACTOR MAY MAKE MINOR CHANGES OR ADJUSTMENTS DUE TO
CERTAIN UNFORESEEN FIELD CONDITIONS.
2. TRENCHES FOR PLASTIC PIPE SHALL PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF EARTH
COVER OF 18" ABOVE THE TOP OF THE BARREL OF THE PIPE FOR ALL
"MAINLINE" PIPING AND 12" MINIMUM COVER OVER ALL "LATERAL"
PIPE LINES. ALL PIPING UNDER ROADWAYS WILL HAVE A MINIMUM
COVER OF 24 ".
3. ALL MAINLINES IN THE SYSTEM SHALL BE CAPPED AND PRESSURE
TESTED AT 150 PSI FOR A PERIOD OF (3)THREF-HOURS. ANY LEAKS
FOUND SHALL BE CORRECTED BY REMOVING THE LEAKING PIPE OR
FITTING AND INSTALLING NEW MATERIALS AND REPEATING THE TEST.
4. ALL TRENCHES WILL BE BACKFILLED AND COMPACTED TO A RELATIVE
DENSITY EQUAL TO ADJACENT UNDISTURBED SOILS TO PREVENT ANY
SETTLEMENT.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT ALLOW OR CAUSE ANY OF HIS WORK TO
BE COVERED OR ENCLOSED UNTIL IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED, TESTED
AND APPROVED BY THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OR THE
GOVERNING AGENCIES PROVIDING INSPECTIONS.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP THE PREMISES CLEAN AND FREE OF
EXCESS EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS AND RUBBISH, INCIDENTAL TO WORK
OF THIS SECTION.
7. CONTRACTOR MAY BE REQUIRED TO MAKE MINOR FIELD CHANGES THAT
DO NOT REFLECT ON THESE DRAWINGS.
8. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE A GUARANTEE ON ALL IRRIGATION
MATERIAL. ALL WORK SHALL BE GUARANTEED FOR A ONE (1) YEAR
PERIOD FROM THE DATE OF ACCEPTANCE AGAINST ALL DEFECTS IN
MATERIAL, EQUIPMENT AND WORKMANSHIP. GUARANTEE SHALL ALSO
COVER REPAIR OF DAMAGE TO ANY PART OF THE PREMISES RESULTING
FROM LEAKS OR OTHER DEFECTS IN MATERIAL, EQUIPMENT AND
WORKMANSHIP TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
NOTE; ALL REPAIRS, IF REQUIRED, SHALL BE DONE PROMPTLY UPON
NOTIFICATION BY THE OWNER AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.
9. ELECTRICAL SUPPLY TO CONTROLLER; ALL NECESSARY ELECTRICAL
SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE OWNER OR HIS ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR

AREAS WHEREVER POSSIBLE.
3. PRESSURE; VERIFY STATIC PRESSURES SHOWN ON DRAWINGS PRIOR
TO CONSTRUCTION. NOTIFY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT IF LESS THAI
THAT SHOWN.
4. CONNECTION; ALL PIPING BETWEEN WATER METER AND BACKFLOV
PREVENTER (WHERE APPLICABLE) SHALL BE PER ALL LOCAL CODES;
5. VALVE BOXES; INSTALL VALVE BOXES PER DETAILS, W/STATION N0#
STENCILED ON LID IN YELLOW PAINT 2" IN HEIGHT.
6. SPRINKLER PRESSURE; ADJUST REMOTE CONTROL VALVES TO PROVID=
REQUIRED PRESSURE.AT FARTHEST SPRINKLER HEAD AS INDICATED ON.
LEGEND. CHECK PRESSURE WHILE HEAD IS OPERATING BY MEANS Of
PILOT TUBE AND PRESSURE GAUGE (IMPACT HEADS) OR TAPPED
COUPLING AND PRESSURE GAUGE (SPRAY HEADS).
7. COVERAGE; ADJUST ALL SPRINKLERS TO PROVIDE REQUIRED
COVERAGE WITH MINIMAL OVERSPRAY INTO NON -IRRIGATED AREAS,
PERFORM COVERAGE TEST UPON COMPLETION, IN PRESENCE OF
INSPECTOR.
8. PRESSURE REGULATORS; INSTALL PRESSURE REGULATORS WHER*
INDICATED ON DETAILS. CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL PER LOCAL CODE1
AND MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS.
9. FLUSHING LINES; IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR SHALL FLUSH ALL LINES
AND ADJUST ALL HEADS FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE AND TO PREVENT
OVERSPRAY ONTO WALKS, DRIVES, AND BUILDINGS AS MUCH AS
POSSIBLE. THIS SHALL INCLUDE SELECTING THE BEST DEGREE OF
ARC TO FIT EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS AND THROTTLING THE FLOW
CONTROL AT EACH VALVE TO OBTAIN THE BEST OPERATING PRESSURE
FOR EACH SECTION.
10. SLEEVES; ALL PIPING UNDER PAVED AREAS SHALL BE INSTALLED
PRIOR TO PAVING BY THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR. USE SCHEDULE
40 PVC FOR ALL SLEEVING FOR MAINLINE AND LATERAL LINES
WHEREVER NECESSARY. CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL SLEEVES FOR ALL
ELECTRICAL WIRING UNDER ALL PAVED AREAS.
11. COMPONENTS; INSTALL COMPONENTS AS CALLED FOR IN THD
SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAIL.
12. SUBSTITUTIONS; CONTRACTOR KILL MAKE NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF ANS'
KIND WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING PERMISSION FROM THE LANDSCAPE
ARCHITECT.
13. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL INSTALLATION OF IRRIGATION
EQUIPMENT IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL CONFORM TO
SECTIONS 308 AND 212 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR
PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION, 1979 EDITION AND THE CITY OP
FONTANA GENERAL SERVICES AGENCY LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION
STANDARD DETAILS.
14. REQUIRED CITY INSPECTIONS;
1. PIPE LAYOUT AND TRENCH DEPTH PRIOR TO BACKFILLING.
2. IRRIGATION COVERAGE.
3. PLANT MATERIALS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
4. FINAL GRADE PRIOR TO SEEDING. (CERTIFICATION SEED TAGS
REQUIRED).
5. INSPECTION PRIOR TO START OF MAINTENANCE PERIOD.
6. FINAL INSPECTION FOR CITY ACCEPTANCE AND BOND RELEASE.
