1. THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALL PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS SHALL CONFORM TO
THESE PLANS AND TO THE CITY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS,
ENGINEERING DIVISION, CITY OF FONTANA. REFER TO DEFINITIONS
AND TERMS IN CITY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
2. EXCAVATION AND CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM
FONTANA ENGINEERING DIVISION PRIOR TO START OF ANY WORK WITHIN
THE CITY LIMITS.
3. LOCATIONS OF PUBLIC UTILITIES SHOWN HAVE BEEN DETERMINED FROM
AVAILABLE INFORMATION. HOWEVER, IT SHALL BE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO DETERMINE THE TRUE
LOCATION AND ELEVATION IN THE FIELD OF ANY EXISTING UTILITIES
AND TO EXERCISE PROPER PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID INJURY OR DAMAGE
THERETO. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT
FOR UTILITY LOCATION BEFORE EXCAVATION AT 1-800-422-4133.
4. PROTECTIVE MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE CONTRACTOR SO AS NOT
TO CAUSE ANY MUD, SILT OR DEBRIS TO BE DEPOSITED ONTO PUBLIC
OR ADJACENT PROPERTY AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION. ANY
MUD OR DEBRIS ON PUBLIC PROPERTY SHALL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.
DUST SHALL BE CONTROLLED BY WATERING OR OTHER APPROVED METHOD
THROUGHOUT THE GRADING AND CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS.
5. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT GRADES, DITCHES AND SWALES
FROM UNDERMINING STREET IMPROVEMENTS. UPON INSPECTION OF THE
SITE, THE CITY ENGINEER MAY REQUIRE TEMPORARY GUNITE SWALES,
ENTERING OR LEAVING IMPROVEMENTS.
6. ALL EXPOSED CONCRETED SURFACES SHALL CONFORM IN GRADE, COLOR
AND FINISH TO ALL ADJOINING CURBS AND SIDEWALKS.
7. STERILANT REQUIRED UNDER ALL AC PAVEMENT.
8. ALL PAVEMENT OR CONCRETE REMOVALS SHALL BE SAW CUT.
PAVEMENT NOTES:
1. THE CITY PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR MAY REQUIRE AT HIS/HER OWN
DISCRETION, THAT THE CONTRACTOR SUBMIT A SOILS REPORT WITH
CALCULATED "R" VALUES AND GRAVEL EQUIVALENTS FOR THE
VERIFICATION OF A PROPER PAVEMENT THICKNESS.
2. PAVEMENT SECTIONS SHOWN ARE MINIMUM AND SUBJECT TO REVISION
AND APPROVAL OF THE CITY AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY SOILS TEST
TAKEN AFTER COMPLETION OF ROUGH GRADING.

GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL WORK, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNING AND
STRIPING SHALL CONFORM TO THESE PLANS AND THE STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CITY OF FONTANA AND THE STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
2. PAVEMENT MARKERS AND TRAFFIC STRIPING DIMENSIONS SHALL CONFORM
TO CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS.
3. PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL CONFORM TO CITY STANDARD STENCILS.
4. TRAFFIC STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS ON NEW SURFACES SHALL
BE IN TWO (2) SEPARATE COATS. A FINAL COAT IS TO BE APPLIED
BETWEEN FOURTEEN (14) AND THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER THE FIRST
COAT.
5. TRAFFIC SIGN DIMENSIONS, COLOR AND LETTERING SHALL CONFORM TO
THE LATEST CALTRANS SIGN SPECIFICATION SHEETS. SIGN CODES
SHOWN HEREON ARE TO CONFORM TO CALTRANS SPECIFICATION SHEET
CODES. TRAFFIC SIGN SIZE SHALL BE CITY STANDARD UNLESS
OTHERWISE INDICATED ON PLANS.
6. SIGNS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON A "QUICK PUNCH POST" 2" X 2" (12
GA.) WITH 7/16" HOLES, 1" ON CENTERS, ON FOUR SIDES THAT CAN
BE PUNCHED OUT. LENGTH MAY VARY WITH SIGN INSTALLATION TO
MAINTAIN MINIMUM HEIGHTS. THE ANCHOR SHALL BE A HEAVY DUTY
ONE PIECE ANCHOR, 2 1/2' X 30" X 6 GAUGE (NON -PERFORATED), TO
FIT A 2 " SQUARE STEEL POST, PRE -PUNCHED AT MID -POINT OF ANCHOR
WITH ONE 7/16" HOLE ON EACH SIDE, AND AT TOP.
7. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MAINTAIN
BARRICADES, DELINEATORS OR OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.
8. CONTROL POINTS OR "CAT -TRACKING" IS TO BE APPROVED BY THE
TRAFFIC SECTION PRIOR TO PAINTING.
9. ALL CONFLICTING STRIPING AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS ARE TO BE
REMOVED FROM THE PAVEMENT BY SANDBLASTING BY THE CONTRACTOR.
10. REMOVAL OF ALL SIGNS AND LEGEND'S SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH
THE CITY OF FONTANA TRAFFIC SECTION. STOP SIGN AND LEGENDS
WILL BE REMOVED ONLY BY CITY FORCES. FIVE (5) DAYS ADVANCE
WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE CITY TRAFFIC SECTION IS REQUIRED TO
COORDINATE WORK WITH CITY FORCES.
1.1. EXACT LOCATION OF ALL EQUIPMENT AND CONTROL DEVICES TO BE
DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER. ADDITIONAL WARNING `AND/OR
CONSTRUCTION SIGNS MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER.
