INSULATION AND VAPOR BARRIERS PRESENT ON FACTORY -FABRICATED DUCTS SHALL BE FITTED OVER THE CORE CONNECTION AND SHALL BE • SUPPLEMENTALLY SECURED WITH A DRAW BAND. 13. FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL CONSIST OF AN EXTERIOR REINFORCED LAMINATED VAPOR BARRIER, 1-1/2" THICK FIBER GLASS INSULATION (k=.25 @ 750F), ENCAPSULATED SPRING STEEL WIRE HELIX AND IMPERVIOUS, SMOOTH, NON -PERFORATED INTERIOR VINYL LINER. INDIVIDUAL LENGTHS OF FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL CONTAIN FACTORY FABRICATED STEEL CONNECTION COLLARS. FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL BE USED ON ONLY THE LAST 6' MAX. TO THE AIR OUTLET. 14. FLEXIBLE DUCT SHALL BE SECURED TO THE SLEEVE OR COLLAR USING A DRAW BAND. IF THE DUCT COLLAR EXCEEDS 12" DIAMETER, THE DRAW BAND MUST BE POSITIONED BEHIND A BEAD ON THE METAL COLLAR. DUCT TAPE SHALL NOT BE USED. 15. FLEXIBLE DUCTS SHALL NOT PENETRATE THROUGH ANY WALL. 16. FLEXIBLE DUCTS MAY BE USED TO CROSS SEISMIC JOINTS WITHOUT OFFSETS. 17. ALL DUCTWORK SHALL BE INSTALLED TO ALLOW CLEARANCE IN CEILING SPACE FOR LIGHTS (INCLUDING INSTALLATION), FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, AND ALL STRUCTURAL OBSTRUCTIONS NOT SHOWN ON MECHANICAL DRAWINGS. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL REQUIRED CLEARANCE WITH APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINES AND REPORT ANY FORESEEN PROBLEMS BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION OF ANY DUCTWORK. 18. AIR HANDLING DUCT SYSTEMS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED, INSTALLED, SEALED AND INSULATED AS PROVIDED IN CHAPTER 10 OF THE STATE MECHANICAL CODE (TITLE 24, PART 4). 19. PROVIDE SEISMIC RESTRAINTS FOR MECHANICAL SYSTEMS PER "SMACNA" GUIDELINES. 20. ALL FIRE DAMPERS SHALL BE APPROVED AND TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SFM STANDARD 43.2 C.C.R. T-19. 21. FRESH AIR REQUIREMENTS PER ASHRAE STANDARDS 62-1981. 22. FRESH AIR INTAKE OPENINGS SHALL BE AT LEAST 10 FT. AWAY OR 3 FT. BELOW EXHAUST OPENINGS OR PLUMBING VENTS. 23.
