TO COMPLETE THE FINISH GRADING, SOIL REPARATION, PLANTING, AND
.MAINTENANCE AS SPECIFIED.
A. GENERAL WORK PROCEDURES:
WORK PROCEDURES -SHALL FOLLOW BEST"CUSTOMARY PRACTICES.
1. ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE BEST AVAILABLE. DO NOT !BEGIN SOIL
PREPARATION AND PLANTING UNTIL ALL IRRIGATION WORK AROUND
ALL PLANTING AREAS IS COMPLETE, TESTED AND APPROVED.
2. PREMOISTEN- SPECIAL CARE SHALL BE TAKEN TO PREMOISTEN THE
SURFACE 6" OF ALL PLANTING AREAS AND INSURE THAT PLANTS
ARE PREVENTED FROM DRYING DURING PLANTING OPERATIONS.
3. WEEDING- BEFORE AND DURING PRELIMINARY GRADING AND FINISH
GRADING. ALL WEEDS AND STOLONIFEROUS GRASSES, NUT GRASS
AND JOHNSON GRASS, SHALL BE DUG OUT BY THE ROOTS AND DIS-
POSED OF OFF SITE.
!. PREMISES SHALL BE KEPT CLEAN AND MAINTAINED FREE OF CON-
STRUCTION LITTER. ALL CUT CANS, EMPTY BAGS AND DEBRIS
SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE UPON COMPLETION OF EACH
DAYS WORK. ALL WALKS OR PAVEMENT SHALL BE SWEPT OR WASHED
_ DAILY.
PLA11T MATMIALS
1. PLANT MATERIALS: SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 15 GALLON SIZE. ALL
SHRUBS OR VINES SHALL BE A MINIMUM SIZE OF 5 GALLON.
2. TREE STAKES: SHALL BE 2" DIAMETER, 10' LONG LODGE POLE PINE
STAKES, COPPER NAPHTHENATE TREATED OR EQUAL, DRIVEN A MINIMU14
OF 2' INTO FIRM SOIL ON THE TREE'S WINDWARD SIDE. ALL TREES
SHALL BE DOUBLE -STAKED. REFER TO TREE STAKING DETAIL.
2. TREE TIES: SHALL BE WONDER TREE TIES.
S. SOIL : FOR TURF AND GROUND COVER AREAS SHALL CONSIST
OF THE FOLLOWING MIX PER 1,000 SQ. FT.
A. 3 -'CUBIC YARDS NITROLIZED SAWDUST/SHAVINGS.
B. 10 LHS. AMMONIUM SULFATE OR EQUAL.
C-. 5 LHS. IRON SULFATE.
S. SACK!"ILL MIX: FOR TREES AND SHRUBS SHALL CONSIST OF SEVEN PARTS
ON-SITE SOIL AND THREE PARTS ORGANIC AMENDMENTS. `
f. TREE/SHRUB PLANTING: SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATTACHED
PLANTING DETAIL.
7. REQUIRED INSPECTIONS: SEE SllT. L-2.
• . PLANTING TABLETS: SHALL BE 21 GRAM . AGRI -FORM TABLETS OR EQUAL.
S. PLANTS: ALL PLANTS SHALL BE HEALTHY, OF NORMAL GROWTH, WELL
ROOTED, FREE FROM DISEASE, INSECTS, INSECT EGGS AND LARVAE.
THE ROOTS SHALL SHOW NO EVIDENCE OF HAVING BEEN RESTRICTED
DEFORMED OR ROOT BOUND AT ANY TIME.
A. VARIETIES AND SIZES OF PLANTS SHALL BE AS NOTED ON
THE PLANS.
B. PLANTS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO.INSPECTION AND APPROVAL
OR REJECTION BY THE OWNER OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE ON
THE SITE AT ANY TIME BEFORE OR DURING PROGRESS OF WORK
FOR SIZE, VARIETY, CONDITION, LATENT DEFECTS AND IN-
JURIES. REJECTED PLANTS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE
IMMEDIATELY.
C. SPECIAL CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO INSURE THAT PLANTS IN
CONTAINERS ARE ADEQUATELY WATERED.
10. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL INSTALLATION OF LANDSCAPING AND
IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL CONFORM
TO SECTIONS 308 AND 212 OF THE "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR
PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION", 1979 EDITION AND THE CITY OF FONTANA
GENERAL SERVICES AGENCY LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION STANDARD DETAILS.
11. SUBSTITUTIONS: ALL MATERIALS MUST BE FURNISHED AS SPECIFIED
UNLESS ACCEPTED IN WRITING BY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT OR THE
OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE.
