1. THE ENTIRE WATER SYSTEM SHALL CONFORM TO THE SPECIFICATIONS AND
REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY OF FONTANA.
2. ALL WATER MAINS SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH 42" MINIMUM COVER EXCEPT
WHERE NOTED.
3. THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM STATIC WATER PRESSURE WITHIN THIS
SYSTEM IS --a9. P.S.I. AND -j-t4 P.S.I.
4. FIRE HYDRANT COLOR AND LOCATION SHALL CONFORM TO CENTRAL
VALLEY FIRE PROTECTION STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
5. WATER CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST GATE VALVE COVERS TO GRADE
AFTER COMPLETION OF PAVING.
6. WATER LINES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED USING 10 GAUGE CML/CMC WELDED
STEEL PIPE (WSP) AND FITTINGS UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE ON
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
7. SAND BEDDING AND SAND BACKFILL IN PIPE ZONE IS REQUIRED UNLESS
NATIVE MATERIAL IS SUITABLE AS DETERMINED BY THE CITY.
8. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING FROM THE CITY COPIES OF
THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR CORRECT INSTALLATIONS OF THE
PROPOSED WATER SYSTEM.
9. WATER METERS TO BE BADGER MODEL 70 (FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY
CONTRACTOR).
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL PRESSURE REGULATING VALVES FOR EACH
SERVICE CONNECTION.
11. SEPARATION BETWEEN MAINS AND SANITARY SEWER LINES SHALL
CONFORM TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CODE,
TITLE 22, 64630-C.
12. PRIOR TO THE ACTIVATION OF ANY NEWLY CONSTRUCTED WATER LINE,
TESTING AND DISINFECTION SHALL BE PERFORMED TO COMPLY WITH CITY
STANDARDS.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE SITE AND SHALL
BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO EXISTING FACILITIES
RESULTING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM HIS OPERATION, WHETHER OR
NOT SUCH FACILITIES ARE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THE CITY OF FONTANA PRIOR
TO ANY CONSTRUCTION WITHIN DEDICATED STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY.
15. ANY CHANGES IN WATER LINE DEPTH OR CHANGES CONCERNING
CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPORTED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OF
FONTANA.
16. APPROVAL OF THESE DRAWINGS BY THE CITY OF FONTANA DOES NOT
CONSTITUTE A REPRESENTATION OF THE ACCURACY OR THE EXISTENCE OF
ANY UNDERGROUND FACILITY.
17. LANDSCAPE SYSTEMS SHALL HAVE AN APPROVED DOUBLE CHECK
ASSEMBLY INSTALLED AS A MINIMUM BACKFLOW PROTECTION
REQUIREMENT.
18. AT LEAST 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE OR A MINIMUM OF 1,000 FEET AHEAD OF
TRENCHING, CONTRACTOR SHALL EXCAVATE, EXPOSE AND DETERMINE
("POTHOLE") THE EXACT LOCATION AND DEPTH OF EACH AND EVERY
POTENTIAL INTERFERENCE AND CONNECTION, INCLUDING, BUT NOT
LIMITED T0, ALL FACILITIES SHOWN SPECIFICALLY (DEPTH AND LOCATION)
ON THESE DRAWINGS, OR WHICH HAVE BEEN MARKED BY THEIR
RESPECTIVE OWNERS. CHANGES OR DELAYS CAUSED BY CONTRACTOR'S
FAILURE TO PERFORM "POTHOLING" AND INTERFERENCE LOCATION WORK
SHALL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR EXTRA WORK COMPENSATION OR TIME
EXTENSION.
19. DEVELOPER SHALL SUPPLY CITY OF FONTANA (CITY) FIVE SETS OF
APPROVED DRAWINGS A MINIMUM OF TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION.
20. DEVELOPER, PIPELINE CONTRACTOR, AND SUPERINTENDENT SHALL
ATTEND A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH CITY A MINIMUM OF TWO
WEEKS PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION.
21. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY CITY (909-350-6685) AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR
TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION.
22. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH CITY WITH TWO COPIES OF THE FOLLOWING
DATA AND SAID DATA SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE CITY PRIOR TO
BEGINNING OF WATERLINE CONSTRUCTION. ONCE APPROVED,
CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT FIVE COPIES OF APPROVED DATA TO CITY FOR
USE DURING CONSTRUCTION: a) ALL DATA ON TRENCH PROTECTION,
CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE, AND ENCROACHMENT AND EXCAVATION
PERMITS, b) ALL DATA ON WELDED STEEL PIPE, FIRE HYDRANTS, VALVES,
AIR VALVES, FITTINGS, PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE MATERIALS, AND
ASPHALT CONCRETE PAVEMENT MATERIALS.
23. CONTRACTOR SHALL SOLID WELD ALL JOINTS THROUGHOUT A CURVE IF
THE RADIUS IS LESS THAN 455' FOR 40' LENGTH OF PIPE AND LESS THAN 266'
FOR 20' LENGTH OF PIPE.
24. SEPARATION BETWEEN WATER SERVICES AND SEWER LATERALS SHALL BE
10 FEET MINIMUM.
25. BEFORE MAKING ANY EXCAVATION OR TRENCH 5 FEET OR MORE IN
DEPTH, CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TO CITY A DETAILED DRAWING
SHOWING THE DESIGN OF SHORING, BRACING, SLOPING, OR OTHER
PROVISIONS TO BE MADE FOR WORKER PROTECTION. IF SAID DRAWING
DOES NOT VARY FROM REQUIREMENT OF THE OSHA CONSTRUCTION
SAFETY ORDERS (CAL OSHA OR FED OSHA, WHICHEVER IS APPLICABLE AT
THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION), A STATEMENT SIGNED BY A REGISTERED
CIVIL ENGINEER, ENGAGED BY CONTRACTOR AT HIS EXPENSE, SHALL BE
SUBMITTED CERTIFYING THAT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXCAVATION SAFETY
DRAWINGS COMPLY WITH OSHA CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS. IF SAID
DRAWING VARIES FROM SAID OSHA CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS, THE
DRAWING SHALL BE PREPARED AND CERTIFIED BY A REGISTERED CIVIL OR
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, AND SAID ENGINEER SHALL AFFIX HIS SEAL AND
SIGNATURE TO EACH SHEET OF SAID DRAWING, CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT
EXCAVATE UNTIL CITY HAS RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE
PROPERLY CERTIFIED EXCAVATION SAFETY DRAWINGS.

DEVELOPER SHALL FURNISH CITY WITH FOUR SETS OF CUT SHEETS
FURNISHED A MINIMUM OF TWO WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT BEGIN EXCAVATION UNTIL CITY HAS APPROVED
SAID CUT SHEETS. CONSTRUCTION STAKING SHALL BE AT 50 FOOT
MINIMUM INTERVALS, VALVES, FIRE HYDRANTS, AIR VALVES, BLOWOFFS,
FITTINGS, AND CONNECTION LOCATIONS. CONTRACTOR SHALL USE THE
CONSTRUCTION STAKES AND CUT SHEETS FOR CONSTRUCTION. CITY WILL
USE THEM FOR INSPECTION OF THE WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT
ALL SURVEY MONUMENTS AND STAKES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
27. ALL CONSTRUCTION REQUIRING CITY INSPECTION SHALL OCCUR 7:00 A.M.
TO 5:00 P.M. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, EXCEPT HOLIDAYS. DEVELOPER
SHALL REIMBURSE CITY FOR ALL INSPECTION EXPENSES. ALL MATERIALS
AND EQUIPMENT FURNISHED AND ALL WORK PERFORMED SHALL BE
SUBJECT TO RIGID INSPECTION BY THE CITY. WORK PERFORMED IN THE
ABSENCE OF INSPECTION MAY BE REQUIRED TO BE REMOVED AND
REPLACED UNDER PROPER INSPECTION, WITH THE ENTIRE COST OF
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT BEING BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR, EVEN IF
SUCH WORK IS NOT DEFECTIVE. WORK COVERED UP WITHOUT AUTHORITY
OF THE CITY SHALL, UPON ORDER OF THE CITY, BE UNCOVERED TO THE
EXTENT REQUIRED TO PERMIT INSPECTION, REPAIR, OR REPLACEMENT AND
THEREAFTER SHALL BE RECOVERED.
28. AT LEAST FOUR WORKING DAYS PRIOR COMMENCING ANY EXCAVATION,
CONTRACTOR ,SHALL REQUEST UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT (1-800-422-
4133) AND ANY AFFECTED NON-MEMBER AGENCIES TO MARK OR
OTHERWISE INDICATED THE LOCATION(S) OF THEIR SUBSURFACE
FACILITIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, STRUCTURES, VAULTS, MAIN
CONDUCTORS OR CONDUITS, AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS. UPON
LEARNING OF THE EXISTENCE OR LOCATION OF ANY UTILITY FACILITY
OMITTED FROM OR SHOWN INCORRECTLY ON THESE DRAWINGS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY CITY AND THE ENGINEER WHO
PREPARED THESE DRAWINGS. SHOULD SAID UTILITY CONFLICT WITH
PROPOSED WATER FACILITIES, SAID ENGINEER SHALL SUBMIT A DRAWING
SHOWING THE PROPOSED SOLUTION TO CITY FOR APPROVAL. CONTRACTOR
SHALL NOT INTERRUPT OR DISTURB ANY EXISTING UTILITY FACILITY
WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE AFFECTED AGENCY. WHERE
PROTECTION IS REQUIRED TO ENSURE INTEGRITY OF EXISTING UTILITY
FACILITIES, CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY PROTECTION,
29. STREET GRADE SHALL BE BROUGHT TO WITHIN 1 FOOT OF PROPOSED FINISH
GRADE PRIOR TO WATERLINE CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL SHOW
EXISTING ELEVATIONS OVER CENTERLINE OF PROPOSED WATERLINE ON
THE CUT SHEETS.
30. DURING CONSTRUCTION OF WATERLINE, CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A
PIPELINE CAP AND TEMPORARY THRUST PROTECTION FOR TESTING AND
DISINFECTION AT A MINIMUM OF 5 FEET FROM CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING
WATER SYSTEM AFTER NEW PIPELINE AND APPURTENANCES HAVE BEEN
DISINFECTED, TESTED, AND ACCEPTED BY CITY. CONTRACTOR SHALL
REMOVE PIPELINE CAP AND TEMPORARY THRUST PROTECTION AND
INSTALL CONNECTION PIPING. THE CONNECTION PIPING SHALL BE
SWABBED WITH A CHLORINE SOLUTION.
31. OPEN EXCAVATION WILL BE ALLOWED OVER NIGHT OUTSIDE OF PUBLIC
STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY PROVIDED SITE IS SECURE. A CONSTRUCTION
FENCE, ENTIRELY ENCLOSING THE SITE, WILL BE REQUIRED.
32. PIPELINES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED SO THAT ACTUAL FLOW LINE
ELEVATIONS ARE WITHIN 0.1 FOOT OF DESIGN FLOW LINE ELEVATIONS.
PIPELINES, WHEN INSTALLED, SHALL HAVE CONTINUOUS UPGRADE OR
DOWNGRADE, CORRESPONDING WITH DESIGN SLOPE, WITHOUT HIGH OR
LOW SPOTS. PIPELINES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED SO THAT ACTUAL PIPELINE
CENTERLINES ARE WITHIN 0.1 FOOT OF DESIGN PIPELINE CENTERLINES.
CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSIST CITY AS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM COMPLIANCE
WITH CONSTRUCTION TOLERANCES.
33. CONTRACTOR IS ADVISED THAT ROCK OR UNACCEPTABLE TRENCH
BACKFILL MATERIAL MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING TRENCHING
OPERATIONS. WHERE SUCH MATERIAL IS ENCOUNTERED, CONTRACTOR
SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL SUITABLE BEDDING AND BACKFILL
MATERIAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARD DRAWING W101. BEDDING
AND BACKFILL MATERIAL SHALL BE EITHER COMMERCIAL IMPORTED
MATERIAL OR SELECT NATIVE MATERIAL (SCREENED OR WASHED). ALL
ROCK OR UNACCEPTABLE TRENCH BACKFILL MATERIAL SHALL BE
DISCARDED AT A LEGAL DISPOSAL SITE.
34. A SOILS ENGINEER, APPROVED BY CITY, WILL TAKE COMPACTION TESTS AS
NECESSARY. COMPACTION TESTS SHALL BE MADE IN THE PIPE ZONE, THE
BACKFILL ABOVE THE PIPE ZONE, AND IN THE SUBGRADE, ALL AT
INTERVALS SELECTED BY CITY. COMPACTION TESTS WILL BE TAKEN AS
TRENCH BACKFILL PROGRESSES OR AFTER TRENCH BACKFILL HAS BEEN
COMPLETED, AS DETERMINED BY CITY. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEST
HOLES AS DIRECTED BY CITY WHERE BACKFILL HAS BEEN COMPLETED TO
ALLOW COMPACTION TESTS. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL
EQUIPMENT (INCLUDING SHORING), LABOR AND MATERIALS TO ASSIST
SOILS ENGINEER IN MAKING ALL THE COMPACTION TESTS. WATER
FACILITY TESTING CANNOT BEGIN UNTIL CONTRACTOR HAS COMPLETED
COMPACTION EFFORTS AND CITY HAS ACCEPTED COMPACTION TEST
RESULTS. DEVELOPER SHALL PAY ALL COSTS FOR COMPACTION TESTS.
35. IF MONUMENTS OR BENCHMARKS MUST BE REMOVED OR DISTURBED. TO

CIVIL ENGINEER OR LICENSED LAND SURVEYOR REPLACE SAME.
36. THE DEVELOPER SHALL PROVIDE CITY WITH ONE SET OF RECORD DRAWING
MYLARS. SAID DRAWINGS SHALL BE APPROVED BY CITY PRIOR TO
ACCEPTANCE OF WATER FACILITIES BY CITY.
37. ALL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON FACILITIES SHALL MAINTAIN A 10'
