1. Due to the unusual nature of this project, it is mandatory far all prospective bidders to
participate in a 'job wally of the site in order to become familiar with the actual field
conditions before submitting a bid. Since the work site is accessible only through home-
owner occupied properties, the 'job walk' will be supervised by city personnel. Bidders are
not to visit the site except at the time of the scheduled 'job walk, See pro-ect specifications

3. All work shall be done in accordance with this plan and the bid documents,
4. Construction permit shall be obtained from the City of Fontana Public Works Department
prior to the start of any work within the city limits. City will waive the perniit fee,
5. Concrete shall be class 450-C-2000 with a max. slump of 4 inches,
6. Reinforcing steel shall be ASTM A615, grade 40.
7. Concrete block shall be ASTM C90 for grade N-1 units, normal weight.
Concrete block to match existing adjacent wall in color and texture.
8. Mortar shall conform to the requirements of UBC Std. No. 24-20 and shall be 1 part
cement to 1/4 part lime to 3 parts sand; or other code conforming mix.
9. Cement shall conform to UBC STD No. 26-1; Aggregate shall conform to UBC STD No,
24-23 for grout. Water used in mixing concrete, mortar, and grout shall be clean and free
from injurious amounts of oils, salts, organic materials or other substances that may be
deleterious to the concrete, mortar, grout, or reinforcement,
10. Grout shall conform to the requirements of UBC STD No. 24-29 and shall be: 1 Part
cement to 3 parts sand to 2 parts pea gravel, maximum size 3/8 (f c=2000PS1)

materials is prevented and that the material will be capable of meeting applicable

All head and bed joints shall be filled solidly with mortar for a distance in from the face of

14. Prior to grouting, the grout space shall have vertical continuity and shall be clean so that all
spaces to be filled with grout do not contain mortar projections greater than 1/2 inch,
mortar droppings, or other foreign material. All cells and spaces containing reinforcing
bars shall be filled solidly with grout.
15. Inspections tea red: Footing, Grout, and final. (No concrete or grout skull be
placed prior to impmdon and approval.)
16. Fencing lumber shall be No. 1 Cedar Dog-eared lumber. Posts and rails shall be Redwood,
All lumber shall be clean and straight, with no splits or loose knots,
ALL NAILS SHALL BE GALVANIZED.
17. Wrought iron fencing shall be of the same material and dimension as the existing fence.
18. Exposed metal parts shall be coated with a zinc -rich primer and an exterior grade finish
coat to match the existing fencing.
19. All work to conformi to the plans and project specifications, to all applicable codes &
regulations, and to all accepted standards of good workmanship.
20. All pipes or substructures of any kind and all telephone or power poles, water meters,
valves, hydrants, irrigation structures, etc., shown or not shown on this plan and located
within areas to be improved and interfering with the construction, shall be relocated by
others. It shall be the contractor's responsibility to notify all of the agencies concerned
before construction begins.
