QENERAL bILITE&
1. An ENCROACHMENT PERMIT IS REQUIRED before any work
may begin in or near the State right of way.
2. ALL WORK within the state right of way SHALL CONFORM
to the latest STATE STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS or
as directed by the State's representative (Standards other
than State must be pre -approved amd justified).
3. NO EQUIPMENT or MATERIALS may be stored on the the
State right of way.
4. All disturbed areas in the State righrt of way MUST BE
treated for erosion control (hydroseeding or equivalent
or as directed by the State's representative). The
responsibility for maintaining erosion control WELL NOT be
released until the seeding is well established. The
CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for the COST OF CALTRANS
CLEANING ANY DRAINAGE STRUCTURE/CHANNELS which have
become cluttered with debris and/or silt as a result of,
caused by, the construction project.
5. The STRUCTURAL SECTION shown within the State right of
way is for ESTIMATING purposes ONLY. The actual section
WU1 BE d"igned by a Soil Engineer after native soil testing
has been completed. A traffic index (TI) of 11.0 shall be
used in the design of the traveled way, and a IT of
shall be used for the shoulder design. The laboratory reports
and the design calculations SHALL BE SUBMr= to the State's
representative for APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION of the
structural section.
6. All State drainage stxuctures MUST first BE COMPLETELY CLEANED
of debris and/or silt by the contractor PRIOR to making the
connection.
7. The contractor SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE for ensuring that any
State drainage facility which is connected to or directly affected
by the contractors operation SHAU BE clean and operational
PRIOR TO FINAL ACCEPTANCE of the permit work by the State.
Adequate clean -outs and acoess openings SHALL BE PROVIDED in
any construction within the State's right of way for future
maintenance and repair wor1r. as needed. This work shall be
furnished at NO COST TO the STATE.
8. Where SURVEY * MONLTILKNTS exist, such monuments SHALL BE
PROTECTED or shall be REFERENCED and REM pursuant to
Business and Professions Code, Sections 8700 to 8805
(Land Surveyor's Act).
9. The pavement MUJST BE saw -cut 2' minimum from the edge of
pavement. The saw -cuts MUJST BE perpendicular or parallel to the
State highway centerline.
10. ALL signing, striping and pavement markings SHALL BE in conformance
with the current edition of the TRAFFIC MANUAL, published by the
State of California, Department of Transportation, and the SPECIAL
PROVISIONS. All pavement markings SHALL BE thermoplatic unless
otherwLge noted on the plans.
11. The exact location of ALL SIGNS shall be determined in the field
by the State's representative.
12. ALL conflicting striping and pavement markings NOT SHOWN on the
plans SHALL BE REMOVED from the pavement by sandblasting by the
contractor.
13. ALL signs, roadside markers, electrollers, etc., SHALL BE PROTECTED
and/or REPIACED in-kind according to the current State Standard
Plans and current Traffic Manual, at NO COST TO the STATE.
14. All utilities including sewer and water lines, gas line, electrical and
cable television shall be applied and installed under separate permits
by its owners.
15. State-owned facilities, specifically detector loops, pun boxes, conduits
and detector cables, destroyed during construction shall be replaced
in-kind at no cost to the State. Also, any damage resulting in a
signal failure shall be repaired immediately.

Standard Specifications dated January, 1988.
17. No splicing of conductors or detector cable shall be
allowed. New conductors shall run continuously from
terminal block to terminal block and detector loop cable
shall run continuously all the way to the controller.
18. State's Electrical Inspector shall be notified 24 hours in
advance of any detector work so that adjustments can be
made to the signal controller.

ACTUAL SECTION TIO BE DETERMINED AFTER GRADING AND APPROPRIATE
LAB TESTS. A T.I. OF 10 SHOULD BE USED IN THE DESIGN OF THE
HIGHWAY LANES SECTION. A T.I. OF 6.0 COULD BE USED IN THE SHOULDER

39. PROHIBIT PARMG ALONG THE STATE HIGHWAY BY THE PROPER PIACEMENT

WORK WITHIN THE STATE HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY.
37. ALL WORK WITHIN THE HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL BE TO STATE
STANDARDS.
38. STRUCTURAL SECTION INDICATED FOR HIGHWAY IS FOR EXT11LATING ONLY.
ACTUAL SECTION TIO BE DETERMINED AFTER GRADING AND APPROPRIATE
LAB TESTS. A T.I. OF 10 SHOULD BE USED IN THE DESIGN OF THE
HIGHWAY LANES SECTION. A T.I. OF 6.0 COULD BE USED IN THE SHOULDER
AREA.
39. PROHIBIT PARMG ALONG THE STATE HIGHWAY BY THE PROPER PIACEMENT
OF NO PARKING ANYTIME SIGNS (R-26) AS DIRECTED BY STATE REPRESENTATIVE.
