SEWER IMPROVEMENT PLANS GENERAL NOTES
1. All work shall be done in accordance with these plans and the City of Fontana
Public Works Department Standard Specifications Dated 1975, and any revision
thereafter.
2. Construction permits shall be obtained from the Fontana Public Works Department
prior to the start of work within the City limits.
3. Adequate stakes shall be set by the Engineer to enable the contractor to
construct the work to the plan grades.
4. All pipelines or substructures of any kind and all telephone or power poles,
water lines, meters, valves, hydrants, irrigation structures, etc., shown or not
shown on the plans and located within areas to be improved and interfering
with construction shall be relocated by others. It shall be the coTitractor's
responsibility to notify all agencies concerned prior to construction.
5. "As—Built" plans shall be provided to the City by the contractor.
6. Engineer shall check out original sewer plans and transfer "As—Built" information
prior to City acceptance of the sewer system.
7. All 4" house laterals shall be installed on a 2% minimum grade unless
otherwise approved by the City Engineer.
8. Sewer contractor shall chisel "S" in the curb at the location of the lateral.
9. Manhole frames and covers to be constructed by the sewer contractor 6"
below grade and during paving raised to finished grade.
10. All stationing refers to centerline of sewer.
11. Street intersection centerline distance tie—in shall be shown.
12. The sewer contractor shall be fully responsible for the location and protection
of all underground facilities whether shown on these plans or not.
13. No laterals shall be placed under driveways.
14. Prior to construction of the water, sewer or storm drain lines the contractor
shall espose the existing water, sewer, or storm drain lines where connections
will occur, and verify their elevation and location. Approval by the City of
Fontana of a proposed connection to a City facility does not imply correctness
of the elevation or location as shown on the plans.
15. Valve frames and covers shall be constructed 6" below finished grade by
water contractor and shall be raised to grade by paving contractor after
completion of paving.
16. Terminate all 4' house sewer laterals 3' inside the front property line with
a plug, 12" below ground lines.
