UTILITY REQUIREMENTS
The Contractor Is advised of the existence of the utility notification service provided by
UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT (USA). USA member utilities will provide the Contractor with
the precise locations of their substructures In the construction area when the Contractor gives at
least 48 hours notice to the Underground Service Alert by calling 1/800/422-4133.
The Contractor shall notify the following agencies at least 48 hours In advance of
excavating around any of their structures. The utility companies listed below can be contacted as
indicated.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This project Is to construct an Interconnected traffic signal system on Sierra Avenue utilizing both
new and modified existing equipment. Interconnection will be accomplished with new telephone
line services and by cabling �xlstlng Interconnect conduit runs. Specific details are contained
hereon and In the Special Provisions.
GENERAL NOTES
1. General and miscellaneous construction to be in accordance with the "Standard
Specifications for Public Works Construction" (the Green Book).
2. Traffic signal construction shall be in accordance with Caltrans Standard Plans and
Standard Specifications (both dated January 1988), as shown hereon and per the Special
Provisions.
3. Locate all substructures prior to construction. Hand dig as necessary to protect existing
underground utilities. See "Utility Requirements" hereon.
4. Obta in approval for exact equipment location prior to placement. Loop detectors shall be
6' x 6' with 10' between adjacent loops in the same lane, unless otherwise shown. Center
loops in the traveled portion of the lane, and extend front loops 2' into the limit line or
crosswalk.
5. All new conduit is 1.5" except as noted. Conduit to be bored in paved, sidewalk and
landscaped areas. All new pull boxes are #5 except as noted.
6. Coordinate Telephone line interconnect service with Carol VerBrugge, Pacific Telephone
at 714-359-2520.
7. Provide all new equipment and modify existing equipment and perform necessary
connections, testing and adjustments to provide a functional Interconnected traffic signal
system. Update all intersection and system control equipment to the latest Software version
available from Econolite Control Products.
8. Provide, install and setup Dell System 310 computer system In Fontana City Hall East
P.nnex at 8335 Sierra Avenue, with Econolite Zone Monitor IV software per the 'Special
Provisions and as directed.
