HomeMy WebLinkAbout1818-1GENERAL NOTES0 : 1. All asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete work shall be.done in accordance with these plans, the standard plans, and the special provisions. 2. All signing shall be in conformance with the current edition of the "Traffic Manual" published by the State of California, Department of Transportation and the special provisions. The exact location of all signs shall be determined in the field by the engineer. 3. All striping and pavement markings shall be in conformance with these plans and standard plan A20 -A through A20 -C. Pavement markings shall conform to Caltrans stencils. 4. All striping shall be "cat -tracked" and approved by the engineer prior to final striping. 5. All conflicting signing and striping not shown on the plans shall be removed by the contractor by wet sandblasting. 6. All striping and pavement markings shall receive two coats of paint. TRAFFIC SIGNALS 1 All work embodied on these plans shall be done in conformity with applicable provisions of standard specifications of the State of California, Department of Transportation, January, 1988, and the special provisions. 2 Refer to the "Standard Plans" of the State of California, Department of Transportation, January, 1988, for complete traffic signals and highway lighting installation details as indicated on this sheet. 3 Location of utilities and sub -structures have been shown from a search of available records, and contact with involved utility companies. Locate sub -structures prior to construction. Hand dig foundations until clear of obstructions. 4 The contractor shall notify all concerned utility companies at least 48 hours in advance of excavation. Call Underground Service Alert at (800) 422-4133. 5 The exact location of signals standards and appurtenances may be adjusted in the field by the engineer. 6 The location of crosswalk stripes shall be determined by the engineer prion'. to cutting street pavement for conduit or loop detectors. 7 Obtain approval for exact equipment location prior to final placement. Perform preliminary striping layout prior to loop detector layout. Loop detectors shall be 6' x 6' with 10' spacing between adjacent loops in the same lane, unless otherwise noted. Center loops in the traveled portion of the lane, and extend limit line loops 2' into the crosswalk or limit line. 8 All pullboxes shall be No. 5, except as shown. In unimproved areas, pullboxes shall have 12" concrete surround and 6" concrete foundation with traffic cover. See detail. 9 All conduit shall be 2" unless noted otherwise. All conduit shall be metallic. 10 Photoelectric controls shall be located in the electric service pedestal and be supplied by the contractor. 11 Pedestrian push buttons shall be located on the side of the signal standard nearest the crosswalk. 12 All signal heads shall be provided with louvered backplates. 13 All luminaires shall be 200 W high pressure sodium with integral ballasts (240 V) and shall be cut-off type. 14 Illuminated street name signs (I.S.N.S.) shall be Caltrans Type "A" per Agency Standard Detail 132. 15 If signal standards are placed more than 5' from crosswalks or are obstructed, pedestrian push button posts shall be installed as directed by the engineer, 16 Coordinate electrical service details and scheduling with Mr. Fran Stewart of Southern California Edison at (714) 357-6223 well in advance of need. 17 Controller foundation to extend 18" above grade per Type'P°Controller Foundation Detail." • a COMBINED ROA D PLAN STANDARD PLANS /DETA I LS-FONTANA PROJECT N 0.
