THE CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND
COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE
COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT, INCLUDING SAFETY
FOR ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY; THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL
APPLY CONTINUOUSLY;AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING
HOURS; AND THAT THE -CONTRACTOR SHALL DEFEND, IMDEMNIFY, AND
HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL
LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE
PERFORMANCE OF WORK OM THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR LIABILITY
ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR THE ENGINEER.
THE EXSISTANCE AND LOCATION OF ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITIES OR
STRUCTURES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE OBTAINED BY A SEARCH
OF AVAILABLE RECORDS . TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE, THERE
ARE NO EXSISTING UTILITIES EXCEPT THOSE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS.
THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
TO PROTECT THE UTILITIES SHOWN, AND ANY OTHER LINES OR

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
1. THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALL PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS SHALL CONFORM TO
THESE PLANS AND TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, CITY OF FONTANA.
REFER TO DEFINITIONS AND TERMS IN CITY STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS, DATED 1975.
2. CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM FONTANA PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO START OF ANY WORK WITHIN THE CITY
LIMITS.
3. STATIONING REFERS TO THE CENTERLINES OF STREET.
4. CURB DATA REFERS TO THE FACE OF THE CURB.
5. ALL EXPOSED. CONCRETE SHALL CONFORM IN GRADE, COLOR AND
FINISH TO ALL ADJOINING CURBS AND SIDEWALKS.
6. PAVEMENT SECTIONS SHOWN ARE MINIMUM AND SUBJECT TO REVISION
AND APPROVAL OF THE CITY AS REQUIRED BY SOILS ,TEST TAKEr
AFTER COMPLETION OF ROUGH GRADING.
7. ALL UNDERGROUND WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO PAVING OF
STREETS.
8. EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE AS A PER AVAILABLE RECORDS.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THE ACTUAL
LOCATION AND ELEVATION IN THE FIELD. CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL
EACH UTILITY PRIOR TO ANY WORK.
9. ALL MANHOLE AND CLEANOUT FRAMES AND COVERS SHALL BE
CONSTRUCTED 6' BELOW FINISHED GRADE BY SEWER CONTRACTOR AND
SHALL BE RAISED TO GRADE BY PAVING CONTRACTOR AFTER
COMPLETION OF- PAVING.
10. ALL VALVE FRAMES AND COVERS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED 6' BELOW
FINISHED GRADE BY WATER CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE RAISED TO
GRADE BY PAVING CONTRACTOR AFTER COMPLETION OF PAVING.
11. REFER TO CITY OF FONTANA, UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATION
STANDARD DETAIL 129.
12. THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION WITH ALL
UTILITIES AND OTHER IMRPOVEMENTS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED
TO GAS, TELEPHONE, ELECTRICAL, LIGHTING, TELEVISION CABLE,
LANDSCAPING, LANDSCAPING IRRIGATION, DOMESTIC WATER,
RECLAIMED WATER, SEWER, STORM DRAINAGE, FLOOD CONTROL
SYSTEMS, ETC.
13, AS BUILT DRAWINGS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE
GITY OF FONTANA.
14. TYPE, LOCATION AND WIDTH'OF DRIVEWAY APPROACH APRONS WILL BE
DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL CONFORM
WITH THE CITY OF FONTANA STANDARD DETAILS AND DETAILS HEREON.
15. CONTRACTOR IS INSTRUCTED TO REFER TO THESE PLANS AND THE
SPECIFICATIONS, AND WHERE THERE IS OR MAY BE A CONFLICT
SHALL IMMEDIATELY REPORT SAID CONF-'LICT OR.POSSIBLE CONFLICT
TO THE .OWNER' S REPRESENTATIVE. -
16. STERILANT REQUIRED UNDER ALL A. C. PAVEMENT.
17. NO CONCRETE SHALL BE PLACED UNTIL THE FOAMS AND REINFORCING
STEEL HAS BEEN PLACED, INSPECTED AND APPROVED.
18. THE WALLS AND FACES OF ALL EXCAVATIONS -GREATER THAN FIVE
(5) FEET IN DEPTH SHALL BE EFFECTIVELY GUARDED BY A SHORING
SYSTEM, SLOPING OF THE GROUND OR OTHER EQUIVALENT MEANS.
TRENCHES LESS THAN FIVE (5) FEET IN DEPTH SHALL ALSO. BE
GUARDED WHEN EXAMINATION INDICATES HAZARDOUS GROUND MOVEMENT
MAY BE EXPECTED.
19. THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL OBTAIN A PERMIT TO PERFORM
EXCAVATION OR TRENCH WORKAS DESCRIBED IN NOTE )8 ABOVE FROM
CALIFORNIA STATE DIVISION OF -INDUSTRIAL SAFETY. SEE`
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION
SECTION 306-1. L 6.
20. •NO TRENCH BACKFILL SHALL TAKE PLACE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL
OF THE CITY'S INSPECTOR.
21. ACTUAL PAVEMENT THICKNESS TO BE DETERMINED BY SOIL ENGINEER
AFTER COMPLETION OF ROUGH GRADING.
22. ADEQUATE STAKES SHALL BE SET BY THE ENGINEER TO ENABLE THE
CONTRACTOR TO CONSTRUCT THE WORK.TO THE PLAN GRADES.
23. ALL UTILITY COMPAN I ES. SHALL BE GIVEN 48 HOURS NOTICE PRIOR TO
WORKING AROUND THEIR FACILITIES.
24. ALL BACKFILL TO BE CERTIFIED BY SOILS ENGINEER.
25. BACKF I LL MATER I ALS TO HAVE A S. E. OF 30 ( M I N) AND M I N.
