All work shall be done in accordance with these plans and Special Provisions and the Standard Specifications of the State of California Department of Transportation, January 1988. 2. Refer to the "Standard Plans" of the State of California Department of Transportation January 1988, for complete traffic signal and highway lighting installation details. 3. The contractor shall verify the exact location of all existing underground utilities within the improvement area prior to construction and shall be responsible for their protection and for any damage occurring to them. 4. Contractor shall notify all concerned utility companies at least 48 hours in advance of excavation. 5. The contractor shall resurface all excavated areas with finish equal to original pavement. 6. The exact location of new signal standards and appurtenances shall be determined in the field by the engineer. 7. The contractor shall furnish and apply paint to all signal equipment in accordance with Section 86-2.16 of the California Standard Specifications. 8. The location of crosswalk stripes shall be determined by the engineer prior to cutting street pavement for conduit. 9. Photoelectric cell to be supplied by contractor. The contractor is to provide receptacle which will receive the photoelectric cell specified by the engineer. The contractor shall install the receptacle and photoelectric cell on each luminaire. 10. The contractor shall install loop conductors in a 1/47 wide saw cut which Is to be no more than 2" in depth and no less than 1-11f in depth and shall seal the cut with epoxy fill as called out in the Special Provisions, see Sheet 2 for location s of loop detectors. 11. Pull boxes #5 unless otherwise noted or approved by engineer extend 1" minimum conduit 1'-0" minimum beyond curb and gutter from all pull boxes connected to loop detectors provide traffic covers for all pull boxes in unprotected areas as required. 12. The contractor shall familiarize himself and comply with all local county, state and all local codes and regulations and OSHA requirements governing work In close proximity to high voltage power lines. Contractor shall notify the engineer immediately if the location of the signal standards as indicated on the plan sheets or as positioned in the field brings any part of the signal standard, signal or luminaire mastarms closer than 6 feet to any power line. 13. Prior to performing any excavation, the contractor shall call underground alert 1-800-422-4133 for underground utilities interference checks (2 day minimum notice is required). 14.
