SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY"THE OWNERS
OF THE UTILITIES OR STRUCTURES CONCERNED BEFORE STARTING
WORK.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL UNCOVER ALL UTILITIES THAT HE MAY BE
JOINING, CROSSING OR PARALLELING PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION TO
VERIFY BOTH HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LOCATIONS. ANY CONFLICT
OR DISCREPANCY SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ENGINEER'S ATTENTION
PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, OTHERWISE THE CONTRACTOR ACCEPTS FULL
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY COSTS OF RELOCATION OR ADDITIONAL
COSTS OF CONSTRUCTION.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1� THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALL PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS SHALL CONFORM TO THESE
PLANS AND TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS,
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, CITY OF FONTANA. REFER TO DEFINITIONS AND
TERMS IN CITY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
2. CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM FONTANA PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO START OF ANY WORK WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS.
3. STATIONING REFERS TO THE CENTERLINES OF STREET EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE
NOTED.
4. CURB DATA REFERS TO THE FACE OF THE CURB.
5, ALL EXPOSED CONCRETE SHALL CONFORM IN GRADE, COLOR AND FINISH TO ALL
ADJOINING CURBS AND SIDEWALKS.
6. PAVEMENT SECTIONS SHOWN ARE MINIMUM AND SUBJECT TO REVISION AND
APPROVAL OF THE CITY AS REQUIRED BY SOILS TESTS TAKEN AFTER
COMPLETION OF ROUGH GRADING.
7. ALL UNDERGROUND WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO PAVING OF STREETS.
8. EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE AS PER AVAILABLE RECORDS. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THE ACTUAL LOCATION AND
ELEVATION IN THE FIELD. CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL EACH UTILITY PRIOR TO
ANY WORK.
9. ALL MANHOLE FRAMES AND COVERS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED 6" BELOW FINISHED
GRADE BY SEWER CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE RAISED TO GRADE BY PAVING
CONTRACTOR AFTER COMPLETION OF PAVING.
10. ALL VALVE CANS AND COVERS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED 6" BELOW FINISHED
GRADE BY WATER CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE RAISED TO GRADE BY PAVING
CONTRACTOR AFTER COMPLETION OF PAVING.
11. REFER TO CITY OF FONTANA, UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATION STANDARD
DETAIL 129.
12, THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION WITH ALL UTILITIES
AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, GAS, TELEPHONE,
ELECTRICAL, LIGHTING, TELEVISION CABLE, LANDSCAPING, LANDSCAPING
IRRIGATION, DOMESTIC WATER, RECLAIMED WATER, SEWER, STORM DRAINAGE,
FLOOD CONTROL SYSTEMS, ETC.
13. AS BUILT DRAWINGS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE CITY OF
FONTANA.
14. TYPE, LOCATION AND WIDTH OF DRIVEWAY APPROACH APRONS WILL BE
DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL CONFORM WITH THE
CITY OF FONTANA STANDARD DETAILS.
15. CONTRACTOR IS INSTRUCTED TO RESER TO THESE PLANS AND THE
SPECIFICATIONS, AND WHERE THERE IS OR MAY BE A CONFLICT SHALL
IMMEDIATELY REPORT SAID CONFLICT OR POSSIBLE CONFLICT TO THE OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE.
16. STERILANT REQUIRED UNDER ALL A.C. PAVEMENT.
STORM DRAIN CONSTRUCTION NOTES
I. NO CONCRETE SHALL BE PLACED UNTIL THE' FORMS AND REINFORCING STEEL HAS
BEEN PLACED, INSPECTED AND APPROVED.
2. THE WALLS AND FACES OF ALL EXCAVATIONS GREATER THAN FIVE (5) FEET IN
DEPTH SHALL BE EFFECTIVELY GUARDED BY A SHORING'SYSTEM, SLOPING OF
THE GROUND OR OTHER EQUIVALENT MEANS. TRENCHES LESS THAN 'FIVE (5)
FEET IN DEPTH SHALL ALSO BE GUARDED WHEN EXAMINATION INDICATES
.HAZARDOUS GROUND MOVEMENT MAY BE EXPECTED.
3. THE CON,rRACTOR(S)-SHALL ALSO OBTAIN A PERMIT TO PERFORM EXCAVATIONS
OR TRENCH WORK AS DESCRIBED ON NOTE 2 ABOVE FROM CAL/OSHA.
4. IF DURING CONSTRUCTION GROUND WATER IS ENCOUNTERED, A SYSTEM APPROVED
BY THE CITY ENGINEER SHALL BE INSTALLED TO DEWATER SAID AREA AT THE
DIRECTION OF THE SOILS ENGINEER.
5. NO TRENCH BACKFILL SHALL TAKE PLACE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE
CITY'S INSPECTOR..
6. ALL EXPOSED METAL SURFACES SHALL BE GALVANIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
CITY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS,
