ALL WORK, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL CONFORM TO THESE
PLANS, THE CITY OF FONTANA DESIGN STANDARDS, THE CITY'S SPECIAL PROVISIONS, SECTION E,
CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, LATEST EDITIONS, AND THE CALfFORNIA MANUAL
ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES, DATED 2014.
2. ALL REQUIRED CONSTRUCTION PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF FONTANA
ENGINEERING DIVISION PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK_
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND HARDWARE TO CONSTRUCT THE
INTERCONNECT CIRCUIT AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS, EXCEPT ANY CITY FURNISHED OR PROVIDED
AS NOTED IN SECTION E.
4. LOCATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND FACILITIES ARE APPROXIMATE. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOCATION AND PROTECTION OF ALL EXISTING FACILITIES WITHIN THE AREA
OF CONSTRUCTION. THE CITY ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY DISCREPANCIES OR
CONFLICTS PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL RELOCATE AND/OR REPLACE ANY
LANDSCAPING OR SPRINKLERS AFFECTED BY THE CONSTRUCTION TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
CITY ENGINEER.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROTECTION OF ALL EXISTING SURVEY
MONUMENTS OR MARKERS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
6. ALL PULL BOXES SHALL BE No. 6E AND CONDUIT SHALL BE J" GALVANIZED RIGID METAL UNLESS
OTHERWISE SHOWN ON PLANS. ALL SPLICE VAULTS SHALL CONFORM TO CITY DESIGN STANDARD
4103 AND SECTION E. PULL BOXES AND SPLICE VAULTS SHALL BE INSTALLED PER CALTRANS
AND SECTION E SPECIFICATIONS.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THE CITY ENGINEER FOR EXACT EQUIPMENT
LOCATIONS PRIOR TO FINAL PLACEMENT. SEE DETAIL THIS SHEET AND SECTION E.
8. PULLBOXES AND SPLICE VAULTS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF NEW OR
EXISTING WHEEL CHAIR RAMPS.
9. WHEN PULLBOXES AND SPLICE VAULTS ARE INSTALLED WITHIN SIDEWALK, THE DEPTH SHALL BE
ADJUSTED SO THAT THE TOP IS FLUSH WITH THE TOP OF THE SIDEWALK. WHEN INSTALLED IN
UNIMPROVED AREAS, THE DEPTH SHALL BE ADJUSTED SO THAT THE TOP G5 1" ABOVE GRADE.
10. WITHIN EACH PULLBOX AND SPLICE VAULT, ALL CONDUITS SHALL BE SEALED WITH SEALING
COMPOUND. ALL GROUND CONNECTIONS SHALL BE COATED WITH OXIDATION PROHIBITING
COMPOUND. PULLBOXES AND SPLICE VAULTS SHALL BE SEALED AFTER ALL CONDUIT ENTRANCES
HAVE BEEN MADE.
I]. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND INSTALL "' MULE TAPE IN ALL EMPTY CONDUITS.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIRIREPLACE ANY AND ALL DAMAGED LANDSCAPING, IRRIGATION,
SIDEWALK, PAVEMENT OR ROADWAY STRIPING TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER,
13. ALL OPEN EXCAVATIONS WITHIN THE PUBLIC RIGHT—OF—WAY SHALL BE BACK —FILLED PER CITY
STD, 1008 OR STEEL PLATED PER CITY STD. 1009 DURING NON —WORKING HOURS. "STEEL
PLATES AHEAD" WARNING SIGNS SHALL BE POSTED IN ADVANCE OF STEEL PLATE BRIDGING.
PERMANENT TRENCH REPAIR SHALL BE PER CITY STD 1008.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO THE CITY ENGINEER IN THE EVENT OF A CONFLICT OR POTENTIAL
CONFLICT WITH THESE PLANS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS PROJECT.
15. EXTRA CABLE SHALL BE PROVIDED AT ALL PULLBOXES/SPLICE VAULTS WHERE NEW FIBER OPTIC
CABLE IS TO BE INSTALLED A MINIMUM OF 50' OF 96 STRAND SMFO CABLE AND 25' OF 12
STRAND GREG CABLE SHALL BE PROVIDED IN EACH PULLBOX/SPLICE VAULT.
16. RECORD DRAWINGS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE ENGINEER OF RECORD,
WHO SHALL PROVIDE RECORD DRAWINGS AND ELECTRONIC AUTDCAD FILES TO THE CITY
ENGINEER.
