Water System Hydraulic Analysis
Date: July 20, 2021
For: City of Fontana By: Katie O'Connor, P.E.
Hunsaker & Associates Irvine, Inc.
Project:Begonia Village at Route 66
Hunsaker & Associates Irvine, Inc. (H&A) is pleased to submit the Water System
Hydraulic Analysis for the Begonia at Route 66 project. This analysis has been prepared
to describe the proposed water system for the aforementioned multi-family development
project in the City of Fontana. The project lies within the jurisdiction of the City of
Fontana and Fontana Water Company and their standards have been used for this
report. The Fontana Water Company consists of water facilities managed and
maintained by San Gabriel Valley Water Company. Hydraulic models were prepared
using Haestad Methods software to model various flows during steady state conditions.
THE PROPOSED WATER SYSTEM FOR THE BEGONIA AT ROUTE 66 PROJECT
MEETS THE DESIGN STANDARDS SPECIFIED BY THE FONTANA WATER
COMPANY AND THE CITY OF FONTANA. This evaluation is based on existing and
known conditions and should be re-evaluated if these conditions change or new
information becomes available. Any interpretation of the information presented in this
report should be referred to H&A to ensure the integrity of the results.
Project Location
The Begonia at Route 66 project is located adjacent to Foothill Blvd. in the City of
Fontana. The general project location is shown on exhibit entitled, “Vicinity Map.”
Summary of Findings
1.The development will include 423 multi-family dwelling units on a 10.64 acre site
in the City of Fontana at the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Tokay Avenue.
2.Water supply is provided by the Fontan Water Company through an existing
San Gabriel Valley Water Company water system. The Static Hydraulic grade
was assumed to be 1509 feet based on a fire hydrant flow test on Tokay
Avenue, included in the Appendix for Reference.
3.The proposed onsite water system consists of 8 and 10-inch diameter water
mains. The proposed water system includes two connections to San Gabriel
Valley Water Company water mains surrounding the project. The water system
schematic is shown on the attached “Water Model Exhibit– Figure 1.”

Page 2
4.The Begonia Village at Route 66 consists of a private on-site water system that
connects to the existing San Gabriel water mains in two locations. The on-site
water demands were calculated using fixture units for the proposed residential
units.
5.H&A estimated the flow constant “K” using Affinity Laws to determine the HGL of
the water supply at maximum demands and maximum demands plus 4000 gpm
fire flow events. The flow constant for this water system is K = Q / Hf^0.54 where
Hf is the difference (in feet) of the measured static and residual pressure at the
test flow. The “K” value for the water system is estimated to be 500 based on the
fire flow test included in the Appendix.
6.In order to calculate the pipe sizes, velocities and available pressure of the
proposed water system for Begonia Village a Route 66, we have prepared a
hydraulic model using WaterCad v7.0 by Haestad Methods. The summary of
outputs from the model runs are included in the Appendix of this report.
7.The proposed water system provides pressures greater than 80 psi for all nodes
during maximum demands calculated using fixture units. The minimum in-track
maximum demand pressure experienced was 96 psi with an estimated HGL of
1508 feet at the modeled fire flow test hydrant on Tokay Avenue. The following
table summarizes the model run:
Table 1 – Summary of Maximum Demand Model Run
Total Flow
(gpm)
Minimum in-tract
Residual Pressure
(node)(psi)

8.Fire flow requirement were taken for Begonia Village at Route 66 is 4000 gpm
for 4 hours with a minimum pressure requirement of 2 psi. This fire flow was
distributed between 3 proposed fire hydrants.
9.The proposed water system provides pressures greater than 20 psi during
maximum demands plus 4000 gpm fire flow events as required by the Fire
Department. The minimum residual pressure experience for the worst-case
4000 gpm fire flow event (split over three proposed fire hydrants) was 39 psi
with an estimated HGL of 1451 feet at the modeled fire flow test hydrant on
Tokay Avenue. The following table summarizes the MDD plus Fire Flow events:

All domestic water meters will require individual pressure reduction devices to reduce
the pressure to a maximum of 80 psi for each dwelling unit and commercial building
within the project site
We sincerely trust these calculations will provide sufficient evidence that the proposed
water system is adequate for the proposed Begonia Village at Route 66 project. Please

Sewer System Hydraulic Analysis
Date: July 20, 2021
For: City of Fontana By: Katie O'Connor, P.E.
Hunsaker & Associates Irvine, Inc.
Project:Begonia Village at Route 66
Hunsaker & Associates Irvine, Inc. (H&A) is pleased to submit the Sewer System
Hydraulic Analysis for the Begonia Village at Route 66 project. This analysis has
been prepared to describe the proposed sewer system for the aforementioned multi-
family development project in the City of Fontana. The project lies within the
jurisdiction of the City of Fontana and their standards have been used for this report.
Hydraulic models were prepared using Bentley Systems modeling software to model
the peak flows the proposed sewer systems would experience.
THE PROPOSED SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR BEGONIA VILLAGE AT
ROUTE 66 PROJECT MEETS THE DESIGN STANDARDS SPECIFIED BY THE
CITY OF FONTANA.This evaluation is based on existing and known conditions and
should be re-evaluated if these conditions change or new information becomes
available. Any interpretation of the information presented in this report should be
referred to H&A to ensure the integrity of the results.
Project Location
The Begonia Village at Route 66 project is located adjacent to Foothill Blvd. in the
City of Fontana. The general project location is shown on exhibit entitled, “Vicinity
Map.”
Summary of Findings
1. The development will include 423 multi-family dwelling units on a 10.64 acre
site in the City of Fontana at the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Tokay Avenue.
2. The proposed sewer private onsite sewer main/ lateral connection into the
existing sewer system has be analyzed to ensure sufficient capacity. The
attached “Sanitary Sewer Exhibit” identifies point of sewer connection as well
as the proposed and existing sewer mains.
3. The proposed onsite sewer collection system consists of 8-inch diameter
mains to be constructed at slopes of one percent or greater.
4. The total estimated sanitary sewer flows for the proposed Begonia Village at
Route 66 were based upon the City of Fontana design criteria as provided for
in the City of Fontana 2013 Sewer System Master Plan. The sanitary sewer
flows include the estimated future wastewater flows from the drainage area
based upon the proposed land use. Table 4-3 from the City of Fontana 2013
Sewer System Master Plan identifies the multi-family residential design unit
flow rate of 5200 gallons per day per acre (gpd/acre) and 289 gpd/unit.

5. The sewer system for Begonia Village at Route 88 was designed to meet all
of the design criteria contained within the City of Fontana standards
6. In order to calculate the pipe sizes and capacity of the proposed sewer
system for Begonia Village at Route 66, we have prepared a hydraulic model
using Bentley FlowMaster V8i. The summary of outputs from the model runs
is included in the Appendix of this report.
We sincerely trust these calculations will provide sufficient evidence that the
proposed sewer system is adequate for the proposed Begonia Village at Route 66.
