1. It is the Landscape Contractor's responsibility to contact the Engineering Division's Landscape Inspector 48 hours prior
to desired inspection of an item at (909) 350-6632
2. Prior to the release of utilities or maintenance period commencement, the
following inspections are required
Pre -construction meeting
Inspection of irrigation system in open trench condition (prior to backfill).
Mainline pressure test @ 150 p.s.i. for a three (3) hour period.
Irrigation coverage tests including initial and final tests.
Finish grade prior to planting.
Plant materials prior to planting.
Planting, including street trees. Contact the Parks Planning and Landscape
Development section Engineering Division, for species and final locations.
Compliance with approved plans.
Final Inspection.
3. The Owner's representative and Landscape Contractor shall be present at each inspection. The City of Fontana
"Standard Landscape Specification Manual for Streetscapes" shall become a part of this document.
Required Statements and Certifications:
a. 'A minintum 3-ine' 'ayer of mule' shall be applied on all exposed soi! sur' -
igor
b. "For soils less than six -percent (6%) organic matter in the top six (6) inches of soil, compost at a rate of a minimum of four (4)
cubic yards per one -thousand (1,000) square feet of permeable area shall be incorporated to a depth of six (6) inches into the
soil."
C. "At the time of final inspection, the permit applicant must provide the owner of the property with a certificate of completion,
certificate of installation, and an irrigation schedule of landscape and maintenance."
d. "Recirculating water systems shall be used for water features."
e. "Pressure regulating devices are required if water pressure is below or exceeds the recommended pressure of the specified
irrigation devices."
f. "Check valves or anti -drain valves are required on all sprinkler heads where low point drainage could occur."
g. "A diagram of the irrigation plan showing hydrozones shall be kept with the irrigation controller for subsequent management
purposes."
MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES
Landscape shall be maintained in a neat, clean, weed free and healthy condition. This shall include but
not be limited to:
1. Cultivation of planted beds at intervals not to exceed ten (10) days.
2. Regular mowing to maintain lawn height not to exceed two (2) inches (will vary with species).
3. Regular pruning of plants as necessary to control and direct growth
4. Scheduled maintenance of irrigation controller to assure proper application rate of water necessary for
proper plant growth. Drip irrigation may require specialized landscape maintenance care.
5. Immediate replacement of irrigation materials as needed to maintain good working condition.
6. Fertilization on a regular schedule as recommended by the manufacturer to provide proper plant growth.
7. Immediate repair or replacement of irrigation materials as needed to maintain good working condition.
8. Stakes, guys, and ties on trees shall be checked regularly for correct function. Ties are to be
adjusted to avoid abrasions or girdling of trunk or branches.
9. Upon completion of a minimum of three (3) month (90 day) contract maintenance period, an inspection shall be
made by the Community Development Department Engineering Division Landscape Inspection Staff. The
landscape shall be maintained in accordance with these landscape maintenance standards.
10. The Developer/Builder is responsible to contact the City and schedule the maintenance inspection.
SOILS REPORT NOTE:
After grading of site is complete, soils report will be prepared and provided by owner to
contractor for his information prior to construction. Upon completion of project, owner will
provide report to city inspector for record purposes.
